Back when Von Dutch was huge, in the early 00s, I always assumed those trucker hats probably smelled bad, even when it was a fancy celebrity wearing one.

This was inspired by situations like most Dem voters wanting to defund ICE, but much fewer Dem pols holding that position (see also Dem views on Israel, healthcare). It feels like Rep pols are more representative of their base, but I'd love to see actual research on this.

The question I want to answer is how does x party's views/actions (in this case Republican or Democrat) compare to the desired views/actions of its majority party makeup?

Is there data (polling, publications, etc) that tracks how representative a party is of the beliefs of its voters? Eg. how issues polled among voters and the compared to politician polls or legislative activity.

My shouldn't-be-controversial opinion is that if you've ever been nominated for an Oscar, it should be considered very shameful to be in a TV commercial.

Is there a tag or list I can use for people who have ever said something to the effect of "Ok, you won the internet today" on Bluesky? I already have the "joined Nov 24" tag visible, which takes care of most it, but it would be good to clean up the dregs.

I can't adequately state the degree to which the Grateful Dead kept me somewhat sane during the pandemic. They brought me joy and fascination, and a body of work that provides a near infinite amount of both.
