Spatiotemporal coordination of Slit-Robo repulsion and neurturin-GfrΞ± attraction guides multipolar migration during retinal lamination Multipolar migration is a conserved neuronal migration mode in the developing brain, enabling emerging neurons to navigate in crowded environments and…

Check out the tour de force by @jalehtimaki.bsky.social in its final form: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti... . An elegant combination of transcriptomics, F0 screens and high end imaging unravels the cues that guide cells (here retinal horizontal cells) in an increasingly crowded tissue. #proudPI

If you run the ezgui code in the terminal it gives you a TUI, if in Jupyter a notebook GUI (same code), meaning that the UI adapts to you run context. Plus it remembers your settings and dynamically reloads/saves them

We have been thinking a lot recently on how to share and interact with code when doing image analysis. This is one piece of the puzzle. Awesome work driven by Bruno S.

Always a delight to work with @henriqueslab.bsky.social 🫢
More to come soon πŸ˜„.

EZInput: A Cross-Environment Python Library for Easy UI Generation in Scientific Computing Researchers face a persistent barrier when applying computational algorithms with parameter configuration typically demanding programming skills, interfaces differing across environments, and settings...

Huge kudos to the team that made this happen: the brainchild of Bruno Saraiva, with contributions from IvΓ‘n Hidalgo-Cenalmor, AntΓ³nio Brito, DamiΓ‘n MartΓnez, and Tayla Shakespeare! πŸ™Œ We built this to simplify how we interact with our own tools. Hope you find it useful too! πŸ‘‡

We also needed something flexible for modern AI workflows πŸ€–. With EZInput, you get cross-environment support: same code, same interface. It works as a widget in Jupyter/Colab OR as a TUI in the terminal. πŸ–₯️ Perfect for prototyping and then accelerating experimentation on the cluster πŸš€

We always loved how ImageJ "remembers" your last used values. We missed that in notebooks! 🧠 EZInput gives your Python scripts that same memory. It handles validation and persists inputs between sessions. This reduces manual repetition and makes reproducibility much easier πŸ“βœ¨

πŸ“―πŸ‘¨β€πŸš€ Calling all #bioimage analysis aficionados. #EZInput is out! We wanted to bring #ImageJ’s capacity to record settings to the #Python ecosystem 🐍. It is a declarative library for generating UIs that just work. Done with @guijacquemet.bsky.social lab

Direct labeling of microtubule turnover reveals in-lattice repair and stabilization patterns in developing neurons The microtubule cytoskeleton is the backbone of neuronal morphogenesis, driving the development of the dendrites and axon, and supporting trafficking to distant compartments. How neuronal microtubules...

🚨The Neurocyto lab is branching out in our latest preprint! We used tubulin microinjection to directly visualize microtubule turnover in developing hippocampal neurons, demonstrating the presence of in-lattice repair and a selective stabilization in the nascent axon. Check below, or read on 🧡 1/9

One of my favorites features is that you can now cite using DOI in line with the text. #RxivMaker automatically fetches the citation and update your documents. No more messing around with Biblitex ❀️

#Linux and #Windows (using wsl), if you have #pipx you can just:

# Install
pipx install rxiv-maker

# Verify
rxiv check-installation

# Create test manuscript
rxiv init test-paper
cd test-paper

# Generate PDF
rxiv pdf

If you want to give it a try and you're using #MacOs with #brew, its as easy as running:

# Install
brew tap henriqueslab/formulas
brew install rxiv-maker

# Create test manuscript
rxiv init test-paper
cd test-paper

# Generate PDF

πŸš€πŸ“° End-of-year news for #RxivMaker =). Now it generates both #pdf and #docx from #markdown. Docx makes it easier to collaborate on a document for non-markdown users, making it simple to loop between docx and #RxivMaker to a professional-looking #preprint

Sure, if cells obey well-defined temporal distributions between states (cell cycle, differentiation, ...) you can expect phototoxicity to modulate their timing, both in vitro and in vivo. @jytinevez.bsky.social has a nice book chapter showing this in live c elegans microscopist.co.uk/files/wp-con...
