Admin: Please come back to work in the office!

Also Admin: To save energy, we’ve set your office temperature to 28 degrees Celsius.

Honestly, I prefer to work in the office but I generally don’t if it’s hot out. Annoying!

There is no reason to have billionaires.

Don’t remember where I read this, but it’s a good suggestion: Once someone attains $1B, give them a trophy that says they won capitalism and then tax them 100% on future earnings.

Maybe this would encourage more philanthropy and less yachts.

If we didn't have e-bikes, my wife and I would have a second car (which would be parked on the street 23/7). You'd think other drivers would appreciate this!

Pretty funny. I don’t know how I feel about motors in bikes. How do you feel about motors in cars?

Agreed. I almost always take the road, but would never expect that from someone who is newer to riding, not as confident, etc. Reason doesn’t matter, just be considerate wherever you are.

I don’t know how, but somehow it took me nearly 40 years to realize how essential it is to own an apron and a tool belt.

Just realized, so are bike lanes. Would not be needed if not for cars. Hmm.

People negotiating with Trump need to understand that, whatever game they are trying to play, Trump is playing Hungry Hungry Hippos.

How much did Canada’s trade retaliation and boycotts actually hurt the U.S.? Trevor Tombe in The Hub | Macdonald-Laurier Institute In short, government measuresβ€”like removing U.S. wine from store shelves or imposing tariffsβ€”had clear, measurable impacts. The same cannot be said of consumer boycotts. While individual choices may h...

I think this rather misses the point. Canadians are not boycotting the United States because they expect to crash its economy, though some might relish the idea, but because they don’t want to support or frankly have anything to do with the US under Trump

London will miss its 2030 greenhouse gas reduction target City Council declared a β€œclimate emergency” in April 2019, and three years later launched an action plan to guide London towards achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

It is too late to avoid experiencing the effects of climate change. It is certainly not too late to act to lower their magnitude. Big difference!

I think it’s a requirement when you buy a black pickup truck that you aren’t allowed to park it properly or be courteous on the road.

This is a fact, given that my four-year-old asks me daily if we can cut more branches. I’m really running out of possible options.

Welcome to 338Canada

I think about this every time I visit 338canada.com. This site has amazing content but the most annoying and obtrusive ads I have ever seen.

Simple staple bike rack.

Simple staple bike rack.

ULINE sells bike racks. Most are not good. I don’t recommend the wave rack you showed. They don’t work well for e-bikes and can be generally difficult to properly lock the frame. Get a few of these and you’re good. Can lock two bikes to one loop. Accommodates all bikes incl. cargo.

Graphic from 1927 showing that one electric street car moves as many people as 28 automobiles, assuming two people per automobile.

In case you were wondering how long we’ve known that mobility in cities is fundamentally a space problem, this was from Wichita Falls, Texas in 1927.

The streetcar was electric.

And they would need more cars today because of fewer average people in each car.

I often wonder when a driver does something dangerous around me…

Would they care that I have two young kids? Would they care that I have grad students that depend on me? Would they care that I teach hundreds of young adults about engineering? Or is saving that few seconds more important?
