he didn't write for mary poppins
04.11.2025 21:54 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This is an oxymoron
04.11.2025 21:50 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Itโs wild how this thread is full of the whitest people you know trying to decide who does or doesnโt pass the โhip-hop vibe testโ based on whether they like Hamilton or not.
04.11.2025 21:48 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0 Haus, here's the thing. When youโre white and start telling Black and brown folks what is or isnโt rap or whatโs โrealโ BIPOC artโitโs not the ally move you think it is.
You donโt get to stand at the door and decide whatโs authentic in a house that wasnโt built for you.
People get so caught up in the window dressing that they miss how relevant Hamilton still is โ especially now, when so many marginalized folks try to align themselves with systems that only harm them, all for the chance to be seen as โtruly American.โ
04.11.2025 20:20 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Burr, meanwhile, is the model minority centrist โ he thinks playing nice will earn him a seat at the table, but it just isolates him from his community and the elites. By the end, both he and Hamilton blame each other instead of the system, and it destroys them both. That's the tragedy of it all
04.11.2025 20:20 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Hamiltonโs the radical who thinks he can change the system from within โ but the system chews him up. He gets compromised, corrupted, and tossed aside, only to still be branded untrustworthy after all is said and done.
04.11.2025 20:20 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The roles are played by marginalized actors to represent the bodies that actually built this nation. The storyโs about assimilation and the plight of BIPOC ambition under a rigid system โ something we see clearly in both Hamilton and Burrโs arcs.
04.11.2025 20:20 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I think a lot of people miss that Hamilton is a musical, which means itโs supposed to be abstract and metaphorical by nature โ not a literal historical reenactment. Most of the criticism treats it like the latter, and thatโs where the disconnect happens.
04.11.2025 20:20 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0It's funny how people on the progressive side, becoming credibly regressive when you inspect them further.
Instead of actually coming up with a rebuttal it's always hiding behind imaginary arguments or looking up YouTube videos without actually inspecting them lol
OP, your original post was you getting upset over casting choices because of your *queer headcanons*โwhich, if you werenโt serious, would honestly read like a parody of leftist takes. But you *were* seriousโฆ and you still found time to mock real, legitimate reasons behind the changes. That's telling

Everything I talked about still happens on a daily basis.
No, just a person looking up stuff about the warriors concept album since it's kind of rare to find discussion.
It's that desperate which is why I even came to Blue sky of all places
I think he was just emotional.
However, the entire performance was supposed to be politically charged which is why they were wearing all black and essentially removed all the optimistic buzz words from the songs
Nothing is gained? BIPOC women are scapegoated + terrorized over lies spun by white men. This cycle has played out across US historyโrelentless, violent, and rarely named. Weโve seen it. We know it. But too many still look away.
The album couldn't be more relevant
I think that's just because most people don't care about musicals that aren't mainstream tbh.
Hamilton blew up because it crossed over into the zeitgeist and it's the reason why is the only Broadway guy people talk about.
It's like how nobody's talking about epic the musical on filmbro Twitter
I took groups of friends/family to Hamilton 9x in 3 cities (NYC,Chi,Det) from 2016-19: I was OBSESSED w/this musical! A very specific pre-Covid moment/mania.๐ฉ๐คฃIโm enjoying seeing the original cast reunion at the Tony awards. Iโm a musical theater kid: With Broadway, I am not throwing away my shot!โ๐พ๐ญ
09.06.2025 08:53 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Watching the original cast of Hamilton on the Tony awards was a reminder of how revelatory and exciting and moving and new Hamilton was when it first appeared ten years ago.
Thank you, Lin-Manuel Mirandaโand everyone who created it.
Hamilton, 10 anos depois.

03.05.2025 10:00 โ ๐ 15 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0All of those characters are still tied to Hamilton himself in some way.
Washington is his mentor, Aaron Burr and Jefferson are categorized by being his rivals, and John Lauren's is his friend who's passing encouraged him to double down on his work ethnic.
That's just a byproduct of him being a mc
That's because epic is essentially Hamilton, but set in Greece and was originally going to be another rap concept album.
The only difference is that some people think that LMM and the Hamilton from the musical are one and the same when they couldn't be further apart from one another
I have and I think it's amazing

07.04.2025 19:20 โ ๐ 50 ๐ 7 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0On top of that the concept album also gives us the hurricanes which are represented by BIPOC lgbtq+actors and are the only allies to the Warriors in a sea filled with machismo men who want to kill them.
I think the representation is a lot better in that regard personally
TBH, the Lizzie's being lesbians was supposed to be used as a "Gotcha" moment for the guys as opposed to it being any good form of representation and the dominators rough them up pretty badly while we're supposed to root for them.
Having lesbians has the main characters is a far better trade-off
