Should have ordered sooner, as of course directly after, power gets restored. Oh well, I suppose getting take-away on your birthday is alright anyway.

Luckily the take-away across the street does have power so it’s open.

They’re now saying 20:00 before we have power. Insane. 😖

It is actually since 9:20 this morning. This is getting rather ridiculous for what was supposed to be a 4 hour outage. 😩

Arranged to be home early today. After the power outage last week, they’re supposedly fixing a relay station today. Power went out 10:15 and should’ve been back at 14:00, it’s now 16:00 and there is still no power. If it takes any longer, I’m afraid I’ll loose too much cold from my fridge/freezer. 😫

I ordered a StarLite tablet with keyboard, creating a crossover between a laptop and a tablet. I’m hoping this will be a good replacement for both my aging iPad and my not functioning laptop. It should come with Linux Mint (Cinnamon).

So, it it has flown circles for an hour and landed back where it started? Why does it say “on time”? I can hardly imagine the plan was to go nowhere? 😵‍💫

Wouldn’t count on it. A lift based underground storage here in NL had a broken sensor and this was enough to lock a dozen or so cars inside for days.

The fact that with everything I look at or read online right now, I need to ask myself if it’s real or fake, makes the entire internet experience rather shitty. Fuck AI. 🤮🖕🏻

( PS. Amsterdam might be a must-see, but anywhere else in The Netherlands is much more Dutch than the capital is. )

Other city could be Utrecht with the railway museum, or great for the kids is Nemo at Amsterdam. And of course you have Kinderdijk (look it up) but that’s probably not much fun this time of year for the time it takes to get there (and not much else in the surroundings).

If you have the time, take the ferry tour of the port of Rotterdam, the 2.5 hour one is great to see the impressive port and industry. While you’re there, if you like heights, do the Euromast also. 😀

Specially since a lot of things I buy local, come from the same factory in China. Too many pockets to fill, and I bet some of those pockets aren’t worn by people who actually do something.

I mean, I understand that there’s no quality control and they’re copying so no design & development, but that doesn’t rectify prices that are 4 or 5 times higher in the domestic market.

At AliExpress I just ordered some samples as there is a lot more choice, but I probably end up with about 50€ for everything -and- it looks better with rounded corners and more colour options.

Once again an example of why people order directly from China. Looked up ramps and found that for the height I need, it soon costs well over 20€ / meter for black plastic ramps at Dutch stores and I’d need about 7 meters.

Suckerdysucky robot is going right over and doing a vacuum sweep of the house as we speak. I should come up with a name… 🤔

Bodged some ramps together to see if that works and it looks like it does. Have to figure out something more sturdy and better looking, but now I know this works. (Note that ready made solutions are stupidly expensive and new flooring will have to wait.)

Systems say that just after midnight the power was restored. As it was just the 3 blocks of flats that they are renovating, something probably was damaged during the day and burned out later in the evening when power consumption went up. Oh well, seems there is no damage and freezer is still frozen.

And then, the power went out. Likely to be without for hours… no hot dinner then I guess and an early night. Need to be careful with the phone battery so signing out.

I’ve been meaning to lay laminate or PVC flooring in the hallway and kitchen, I wonder if I should go ahead and do that, although that won’t get the robot over the sills, it does bring the level down. Maybe there’s something at the DIY store that I can put over them so it can ride over.
