Looking at the pattern photos - they should also have a pattern for a little waterproof wrap skirt to keep your butt dry. (Flat butt girls would probably be fine, but more shelf butt girls, not so much...)

Old trick for sewing fabric that sticks to the machine as you sew - put a sheet of tissue paper underneath, sew through fabric and paper, then tear off the paper from the seam afterwards.

I tried a recipe like that a few years ago, cooked in short-wide mouth mason jars. Not milk, but a little cream, 2 eggs, shaved parm, chives. Baked in a pan of water until the egg whites set, but the yolks stayed soft, I don't remember the timing. Serve with triangles of toast. It was delicious.

It would make a great model for rebuilding rural life in the US.

Leave the far-flung space for farming, grazing or forestry, but keep the people close together so education, community activities, childcare and eldercare can be shared easily without driving.

This always seemed to be a more elegant model than American style rural "community" where everyone is so far apart.

No one there lives on their farmland. They have bunk rooms in the barn, if they need to stay the night there to care for an animal, or when planting or harvest work goes late into the night and will resume early. But the families, kids and elderly have a safer community by living close together.

A friend of mine lives in a very rural farm community in Europe. The home she lives in has been in her family for 6 generations. There, the farmhouses are clustered close together, in a village with a small town center, and all of the farmland is a long hike/ride outside of the town.

If ANYONE! EVER! uses one of my cast iron pans as a base to hammer in a snap or grommet - soHELPmeGOD! - they'll be sent to the same level of hell with those who used my fabric scissors to cut paper.
