Last of the proper range rovers, I daily drove one for a while and loved it. Ropey as hell but it didn't give me much grief, contrary to what people would have you believe.

17.10.2025 09:24 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0I see way more P38s on the road than early L322s. I daily drove a P38 for a while and had no major trouble with it, and it wasn't exactly well looked after. I think they get an unfair reputation, every common problem is pretty easily fixed nowadays with basic hand tools because its an old Land Rover

05.03.2025 23:07 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Drives me absolutely mad, especially when you're stuck behind them doing 20 under the limit and can't overtake, so you're forced to stare at it.

05.03.2025 12:50 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Knew it would, these don't die easily. My 3.2s parts car sat for 3.5 years out in the elements with a crash damaged wiring loom. Fired literally first bump of the key and idled perfectly with nothing more than a battery. Although it did smokescreen the whole street...
27.02.2025 01:33 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Went on many school trips on this exact coach, I remember the musty seats and rattling plastics well. The company still uses it so nearly 2 decades later I'm getting stuck behind the bloody thing coming home from work some mornings.

The alternator was the reason the previous owner of mine gave up on it, took a new one with me, fitted it on his drive and drove 255 miles home faultlessly
Nah just a lowly 4.0, it's on the wrong wheels. Never had the pleasure of driving an XJ81 unfortunately.
I did wonder about the colour, now I want to see it out at a show some day even more. How come it's been laid up so long?
Very special car is that, would love a final year XJR one day, you'd definitely regret selling. Itching to get my Daimler back out this year once the roads aren't salty.
