rectangle. Hypothetical book cover. Artsy collage background with lots of layers and colors including pinks reds yellows A bit of blue and white and black and some peachy skin tones as part of the background includes an illustrations including a drag queen with a black cloth over her mouth with the word Tennessee on it. There are a number of wheelchair symbol based art as well as a hint of my actual wheelchair the back of it and some protest signs that read don't be silent in times of genocide and fascism with a watermelon symbol and a cross circle with an orange in it. There's also a small blue art piece that reads pity is not compassion but the text is quite small so it would be quite hard to read it unless you had a really good eyesight. There's also a pride flag and the rest is just hints of various art pieces collages in the back nothing really stands out though. On top of that layer is another layer that it's all text somewhat big bold black letters and a modern fond where each letter has a vertical kind of mustard golden yellow rectangle behind it. The text is in for rows and basically spells out rebel Wheels NYC but the letters are spaced out so it's three or four letters per line. Each letter is spaced out so it's not the most obvious as to what it reads If you look at it long enough do the math you eventually would get it. On top of that is the main text and the biggest text is in a slightly diagonal black rectangle with a bold white modern fond that reads rebel Wheels NYC. Below that is three lines of the same font but a bit smaller and it reads a call for healing and rebellion. Lastly in the lower right hand corner I would say from center to lower right-hand corner is a horizontal black rectangle with that golden yellow mustardy yellow font color That reads by Michele sommerstein. Overall the vibes are very artsy and some political stuff and looks pretty funky]

vertical rectangle. rich bright red. yellow orange circle with other circles of a lighter yellow color inside it. 4 in total inside the main one. it kinda almost gives the circle depth. then there are 3 bright pink stripes going diaganol across the center of the circle from left to right. lower right hand color a blue-purple tear drop shape with a smaller blue-purple but lighter teardrop shape inside so it doesn't look so flag. lower left corner 2 black small rounded rectangles. upper center. horizontal teardrop shape turned into an eye with thick black border/liner. a green circle with a lighter green star shape inside behind the black pupil. inside black circle is a small white vertical rectangle. eye is looking up. to right are 3 triangles pointing outward to represent lashes and a black circle at the smallest point of the eye

I worked on 2 styles of #art this morning. one was the continued efforts on the hypothetical book cover for the poetry manuscript, a WIP (though I think it's pretty much done) but then because that's so busy, I decided to see if I could go with a more minimalistic (?) vibe and this happened

#journorequest I'm writing a story for @rewirenewsgroup.com on disability justice + radical access beyond institutional accommodations on university campuses, and the students and faculty that make this access magic happen.

if this is you, dm me! if you'd prefer to chat on signal, happy to do so.

10 Principles of Disability Justice | Sins Invalid

if we refuse to uphold white supremacy in the way we relate to our own bodies, then there is nowhere for fascism to take hold.

disability justice and anti-racism are probably the most thorough ways to achieve this.

okay originally the collage was just me goofing around for the fun of it, but I kinda think I am onto something here...

(hypothetical book cover continued... WIP... I feel like this would be eye catching )

β€œWe can disagree and still love each other unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression and denial of my humanity and right to exist.” - Robert Jones, Jr. (Son of Baldwin)

Apparently, a lot of people misread the "unless" as "even if," and that's not how it works.

Today we learned Andrew Cuomo is directly coordinating with Donald Trump, even as this President sends masked agents to rip our neighbors off the streets and guts the social services so many New Yorkers rely on.

It’s disqualifying and a betrayal of our city.

a very colorful and busy collage consisting of various artsy images and political statements including pity is not compassion, don't be silent in times of genocide and fascism, and a drag queen with a black cloth over her mouth with the word tennessee on it. also a giant hibiscus. colors include:: pinks, reds, yellow, oranges, bit of green, bit of blue, some black, oh yeah also an anti-ice symbol and pride flag

Yesterday I created a hypothetical book cover for my poetry manuscript, but I had too much fun/got distracted making a collage that I forgot to take into account that I have to add a title. kinda no regrets but mission not yet accomplished lol

My brain: "En root" is a great name for a sentient turnip's memoir

"Turn it up!" which is a great name for a sentient turnip's memoir, who's also a famous DJ in the underground ST community

(also Root 66 about a factory working or traveling sentient turnip lol)

also this needs to be a movie

Video thumbnail. Three vertical sections. Left: photo of myself looking towards the center section. I'm wearing a purple t-shirt with a protest message on it that is obscured by my arms. One arm is wearing a black and yellow horizontal striped arm warmer and the other a rainbow striped arm warmer. I have a rainbow flower crown pushing back my dark brown hair, my skin is a light peach color and I'm wearing oversized black rimmed cat eye eyeglasses. On my wrist is a wrist oximeter And there's a pulse bit that's on my finger that's gray. Center section. Background is a bright mustard yellow with a hot pink thick diagonal stripe going across the center. The text is in a bold modern font white with a black horizontal rectangle behind each line. The text reads choosing between disability and Palestine? A chatty video. The smaller text reads anti-Zionist you & disabled AF with a black arrow pointing towards my photo. Other text reads + wheelchair update & accessibility issues. That text is flushed to the right and is closer to the right panel. Bottom center text reads post-election vlog #3. The right section is a photo of a giant hibiscus flower which is pretty impressively big with a beautiful red and kind of a white pinky center. Behind the flower are various green leaves and blurry but presents is a gray tile path this is outdoors. The main text which is yellow in the same bold font and the same black rectangle behind each line but flushed to the left reads the world's a dumpster fire but... There's also some text above the flower same font but this time it's black with a yellow background and it reads ( giant hibiscuses are cool ). Lastly in the lower right hand corner with a yellow font and black background it reads with rebel Wheels NYC but the last bit has no spaces. There are also a number of symbols one being an ice cube illustration and a cross circle, a watermelon slice, and orange and a yellow cross circle and a pride flag.

A wheelchair repair shouldn't take this long. It shouldn't be normal or legal to force disabled people to stay in their homes for months on end. (2)

got an update on the wheelchair repair. Step 2 of 6 has started with an expected completion date of 9/12. I mean, I knew intellectually that this could take up to 3+ mos, but seeing that I will definitely be stuck in my apt for all of Aug & a bit of Sept just for step 2 is hitting hard

protest graphic. rectangle. white background. the font of the main text has a punk artsy aesthetic. each letter has it's own shape behind it and varies in size in style as if someone cut out the letters individually from a magazine/newspaper and arranged them. the main text reads: "it is impossible to achieve safety via oppression" underneath the word oppression and towards the right is the text, black, typewriter font " (*eyes Zionism*).
