2025 GOP doesn’t want to be reminded of 1987 GOP policies.

You know what to do.

I don’t assume it’s a perfect parallel, but the PM in Canada has a whole lotta power over how elections are conducted. Don’t assume for a second that a rat snake like NF wouldn’t do everything possible to secure his position. Honestly, I think it would take the intervention of the King.

I couldn’t bring myself to vote for him. He’s still too conservative for my tastes.

But I no longer see him as the disruptive troll he was. I think his bad treatment by the UCP/CPC establishment had a profound effect on him…

FWIW, the legislation is bad, but it was passed. It’s what the cities have to work with.

They’ll blame the municipalities…and I don’t think it will be entirely unjustified. They knew the rules and the date. In the case of my polling place more staff could have moved things along more quickly. And I know at least one person who applied to work the election and was never contacted.

Those of you standing in long lines for municipal elections in Alberta today:

1) stay in line; your voice matters
2) the long lines are a direct consequence of the conspiracy-driven policy changes brought forward by the UCP government (and not your beleaguered election workers); be kind

In my view the CTF has never been the grassroots organization its name would suggest. In fact they’ve become VERY defensive regarding their governance structure, while trying to justify their lack of any semblance of accountability to their supporters. Fact is: they represent only themselves.
