Can we all please remind the Alberta NDP of this?
24.10.2025 23:21 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 02025 GOP doesnโt want to be reminded of 1987 GOP policies.
You know what to do.
I donโt assume itโs a perfect parallel, but the PM in Canada has a whole lotta power over how elections are conducted. Donโt assume for a second that a rat snake like NF wouldnโt do everything possible to secure his position. Honestly, I think it would take the intervention of the King.

I got pushback for saying this last night, but I still think this is not entirely on the province.
Case in point: Calgary finished its mayoral count overnight.

And his 4 years away has allowed him to work out more of who he is.
Time will tell.
So while I didnโt vote for him, I donโt think heโll be the puppet the UCP brain trust had in mind.
Good thread. Thanks for putting your reasoning out there.
I couldnโt bring myself to vote for him. Heโs still too conservative for my tastes.
But I no longer see him as the disruptive troll he was. I think his bad treatment by the UCP/CPC establishment had a profound effect on himโฆ
Then he deserves an award for longest ever performance in a drama.

I agree, the blame is hers. The costs should be hers too.
But people should not be denied their vote.
Holy strawman, Batman. Did I say I was ok with it?
FWIW, the legislation is bad, but it was passed. Itโs what the cities have to work with.
Does Edmonton stop plowing snow when the budget runs out? Do we deny voters their franchise because itโs expensive?
DRO told me that THEY were told it was to declare which school board the voter supported.
(โฆwhich seemed suspect to both of usโฆ)
Theyโll blame the municipalitiesโฆand I donโt think it will be entirely unjustified. They knew the rules and the date. In the case of my polling place more staff could have moved things along more quickly. And I know at least one person who applied to work the election and was never contacted.
21.10.2025 00:39 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 1Those of you standing in long lines for municipal elections in Alberta today:
1) stay in line; your voice matters
2) the long lines are a direct consequence of the conspiracy-driven policy changes brought forward by the UCP government (and not your beleaguered election workers); be kind
Iโm a citizen, and I support teachers because donโt want to live in a province of stupid people.
19.10.2025 23:37 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0By this logic, should we be pre-booking hospital beds for COVID and flu patients next year?
I mean, that would also reduce waste, no?
โIโm sorry, you failed to reserve a bed, and none are available. Youโll need to wait until next year.โ
In my view the CTF has never been the grassroots organization its name would suggest. In fact theyโve become VERY defensive regarding their governance structure, while trying to justify their lack of any semblance of accountability to their supporters. Fact is: they represent only themselves.

When is the Herald going to fix the headline on the news story? (Hint: the judge expressly did NOT clear the government.)

At a land crossing youโre in a legal no-manโs-land before youโre granted entry. Not worth the risk.
