To be totally fair, the franchise is so vast and different that it will be fine. New interpretations are so frequent, and it won't take away from what already exists, so you can be chill and move on if you end up not enjoying whatever this movie becomes.

The family of Patrick Dane has made public today the devastating news that their beloved son and brother was in a car accident on December 27th and is no longer with us. His father and stepmother, who were also in the vehicle, are in critical condition, but stable.

Pat and I knew each other for a decade, and we worked together closely for a handful of those. After we were both laid off, he always made time to check in and see how things were going. A real class act. My thoughts go out to his closest family and friends.

What awful news. RIP Patrick Dane.
