Just Talk To It - the no-bs Way of Agentic Engineering | Peter Steinberger A practical guide to working with AI coding agents without the hype.

IME a lot of folks who are *really* heavy Claude code or codex users end up (mostly) skipping MCP for the same reasons you share; Peter steinberger wrote a little bit about it here recently steipete.me/posts/just-t...

Every single denial of a building like this should be seen by Chicago residents as a push closer to bankruptcy and reduced public services

⚠️ ACTION ALERT! ⚠️

We are 1 month away from the next opportunity for Chicago City Council to lift their citywide ban on accessory dwelling units, or ADUs. We need your help to make sure that they follow through!

Here’s a thread about why you should care, and what you can do:

In comparison, PermitFlow states that obtaining a construction permit in Chicago can take up to 12 weeks. This suggests that Spokane's permitting process is significantly faster.

According to Advantage Spokane, the city of Spokane has a 30-day turnaround goal for new commercial building permits and a 10-day goal for smaller projects like single-family residential. They have been consistently meeting these goals.

How ProPublica Uses AI Responsibly in Its Investigations When our reporters prompted a large language model to help identify β€œwoke” themes in a database of grants, AI helped them tell a vital accountability story about science funding and Ted Cruz.

not quite a policy but this outlines how propublica uses it in their work: www.propublica.org/article/usin... I would strongly caution any use of AI to read the fine print for data training

As a Miamian turned Chicagoan, a lot of people don't realize how many small scale apartments w parking lots are in miami's burbs and how many McMansions there are in Chicago's exurbs. The city proper and density size matters a LOT here though

I wonder if we can convince her to not do this by pointing out it'll make large parts of the 3rd ward much easier to build dense housing in, empowering Black and Brown developers in a pretty white Chicago industry (www.urban.org/sites/defaul...)

Thanks for the context! There's been a huge empty storefront down the street from where I live that's been empty the 3 years I've lived here, but 2 smaller ones facing it lost tenants and gained new ones within a month. I'd like to see YIMBYs move to make smaller comm spaces more viable but idk how

one little factoid for you about the decline of parties. in a recent chicago election the number of people who voted the straight slate of girl i guess was larger than the number of voters who followed the cook county democratic party slate.
