Mark Ruffalo got paid $30 million or so just to be in some Marvel movies, and I am once again asking these rich celebrities to simply fund the church repairs themselves if they're that willing to stomp all over the remaining twelve (12) congregants.

This Stanley Tigerman home is slated for demolition (possibly begun today), so the Glencoe Historical Society had me document it. It has (had) all the great and incredibly impractical weird bits of PoMo. I don’t think Glencoe’s going to mind me sharing.

good stuff in this production file at the newberry as wellβ€”the blackhawk had the first 5,000 postcards printed with ART JARRETT on the marquee, and then 45,000 blanks kept at the teich plant, to be printed with future acts

Since everyone forgot already, this was the vaunted "promised vote" that Democrats accepted to end the shutdown. The result, as expected, is Democrats accomplished absolutely nothing except giving Susan Collins another free vote to pretend she's a reasonable centrist in her upcoming election.

It's pretty obvious that Dems need to pack the Supreme Court at the first available opportunity, but the people they pack the court with should not have law degrees. Let's normalize the fact that it's a political body and what the SCOTUS does it legislating with a whole bunch of sophistry attached.

Feels like the US has spent the last 5+ years on the verge of some kind of secular moral revival that keeps getting channeled into weirdo lifestyle puritanism

Jon Burge was fired 32 years ago and died 7 years ago & that torturing piece of garbage (who stole decades of people's lives) is still draining millions from our pockets, with the cuts falling hardest on the same people who never supported the police state.

NDAA becoming one of two must-pass bills is not just war making the state, it's the rest of the state trying to earn its survival by attaching itself to war.

Chernobyl promo poster, using an awkward, lumpy typeface.

Fonts are in the news, so I'm going to take the opportunity to port over an old thread: what was typography like in the Soviet Union?

Spoiler: they did not just have 1 font everyone had to use. As a matter of fact, there were 39.

One of them, you can see here, used to great effect for "Chernobyl."

Not sure why there’s a meeting. I thought plans were set at the Smith Park meeting in 2023. Nevertheless, we need people there. 🚲🚲🚲

G & H Wet Wash Laundry, 6633-37 S. State St., Chicago I guess it’s impressive that even half of this old industrial laundry is still standing, although it likely won't be for long.

wrote about an old industrial laundry building at state & 66th that i was very surprised to see still (half) standing
