*adds Nemesis series to the list of holy grails*
(Look they did some KILLER work on these films.)
Finally updated this article with all the juicy BTS pics that Steve Johnson himself provided me with! Again it's so good to finally see all the work that went into this film! #BadMoon #SteveJohnson #XFX #werewolf

Apparently the guy who did all 4 Nemesis movies makeup/robot FX now does haunted house attractions lol.

24.11.2025 07:17 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Bad Moon is such an underrated film imo. Yes its killer werewolf FX are doing the heavy lifting but its a unique spin on the basic werewolf premise imo.
Im very curious to check out the original book too
oh yeah gore warning cos of some pics in the article lol

The great Udo Kier, whom I once interviewed on stage in Toronto, both getting drunk on Chardonnay & Jagermeister, as he mercilessly teased me, has died at 81. Udo, one of the hardest working men in show biz, worked w/ everyone from Paul Morrissey to Fassbinder to Lars Von Trier

oops I misread this the first time
Yeah Howling 6's werewolf is really disappointing. Iirc it was the director who forced Todd Masters to do the human face
When Masters reused it in Tales from the Crypt he immediately gave it a snoutier face lol
OMFG my sister felted me a wee Duncan for my birthday ๐ญ๐

(iirc the book describes Dave and Hal's ghosts (more or less) watching the ignition of Jupiter together too. ha)

I still have a copy of 3001 The Final Odyssey lying around I think...curious especially on that one as Clarke goes into full-on space opera territory with it
23.11.2025 22:22 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Oh thats really cool!! I actually was also talking to another collaborator of his, Jim Ojala, the other week, I need to share the Jack & Diane BTS pics Ojala shared.
23.11.2025 21:51 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I assume you mean Gabe Bartalos? and yes, Corso's work is fantastic! even the minimal work like the Alligator Man in Howling 6 are great makeup jobs
23.11.2025 21:46 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Happy birthday! And these are great photos! Very much will check your film out when its released :>
23.11.2025 21:42 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0If you've noticed me being coy about something the last few days, this is why. I've been talking to Steve Johnson, and he's given me exclusive BTS pics of Bad Moon!
This is only a TINY fraction of what he's shared
Happy Werewolf Wednesday fuckers! #werewolfwednesday #badmoon #stevejohnson
Not surprised, in the early seasons Lindala was still a beginner and this looks a bit more advanced than what his team were capable of (compare the bug monster in 'Folie A Deux')
And Greg Cannom and Rick Baker both lent werewolf/gorilla suits in the early seasons.
I was talking to a former KNB EFX guy who revealed KNB actually contributed some stuff to the early seasons of X-Files, as Toby Lindala's team was stretched thin.
One episode KNB supplied stuff for was 'Humbug'. The infamous twin puppet was a KNB creation; the KNB team nicknamed it 'Baby Stinky'

19.11.2025 02:43 โ ๐ 4163 ๐ 879 ๐ฌ 23 ๐ 6Sadly the 2010 movie gets rid of that element and instead has the gay romance between an American and Soviet crewmember into a bromance (and the Soviet guy dies no less)
I do like the movie though
This made me remember the plot point in 2010 Odyssey Two were the (straight) narrator starts to basically feel gay/bi envy of the other crewmembers and realizes he's actually lesser for it lmfao
23.11.2025 21:17 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0There needs to be more focus on makeup effects outside the US/UK/Canada/Japan imo.
Even Italy has been mostly neglected until recent years, but what about France, Germany, Hong Kong, etc?
Imo you would have killed it in practical FX, in a parallel universe we have the Werewolf Versus movie series
23.11.2025 21:11 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0But yeah, Im expecting his Werwulf movie to be more a gloomy period piece first, a werewolf film second (and again, Im dreading that he just goes for a 'historically accurate' telling)
Unless he pulls a Wolf (1994) where we get an uncanny practical wolf but its barely seen and forgotten about lol
I remember the Criterion Closet video with him and, especially with the Parajanov, Visconti and Pasolini namedropping it did feel a bit 'look how cultured I am'
Also quite odd as while I see how he admires these directors attention to period detail, did he forget their films were, yknow, colourful?
A comic illustrated with pen and watercolor. A stoat or long-tailed weasel has grown their snowy ermine winter coat. Panel 1: Stoat: "Everybody! Look! Look at me! Stop what you're doing and look at my beautiful winter coat!" Panel 2: (stoat realizes something): "I mean... erm... never mind! Don't look! It's camouflage! Pretend you didn't see me."
Someone forgot how to stoat.
