The real issue isn’t left vs right.

It’s not white vs black.

It’s not citizen vs immigrant.

It’s not gay vs straight.

The real issue is that a lot of powerful people have a vested interest — and a lot of money invested — in dividing us, and it’s working.

It does not reflect well on a news organization to fire a commentator for offering their opinion, especially when it was accurate and needed to be said. Especially a contributor of dependable insights like Dowd.

The greatest political scandal today is not what Trump is doing. It is the fact that congressional Republicans have given up their role in the constitutional system as a check on the executive branch. If we are in a constitutional crisis, it is as much on Mike Johnson and John Thune as anyone else.

Fact check: nearly 70 percent of US money for Ukraine actually went to US defense industry to replenish the stocks of OLD stuff that went to Ukraine to use.

Much of which we would have paid to destroy as their lifespan expired.

The states most dependent on federal money are disproportionately Trump-voting red states.

—13 of the top 20 states that got more from DC than they paid in taxes voted for Trump 3X.

—Top 5 states that sent DC more than they got (and 9 of the top 10) are all blue states that voted against Trump 3X.
