Sincere thanks to Town Moderator Jason Ross for allowing me to address the Town Meeting to explain the difficult consequences of the Government Shutdown and alerting residents to the assistance that is available through our Congressional Offices in Brockton, Quincy, Boston, and Washington D.C.

Republican cuts to Medicaid are already hurting families. Covered California notices are going out now with increases of 50-200% due to the cuts to ACA subsidies. We must keep fighting for affordable health care.

This is an emergency. In a month, health premiums are going to go up by 75%, ruining families' lives. What's happening in Chicago, where people's rights are being obliterated, is an emergency. What the FCC is doing - censoring our political speech - is an emergency.

I was born in 1972. The replacement rate he's panicked about has been below 2.1% for almost every year of my life.

If you're really worried about the population falling, giving immigrants a path to citizenship is an obvious and easy solution.
