How often and how prominently are which climate change-related topics covered in Germany’s major TV news program Tagesschau? In her Bachelor’s thesis, Tanja Schirmag developed an NLP-based algorithm and applied neural topic modeling to find out. The results have just been published 🎉

Max Kotz published articles in Nature (twice!), Nature Climate Change, PNAS, Journal of Climate, … in which he illuminated various channels through which climate affects the economy, thus demonstrating that the cost of climate damages will by far exceed those of ambitious climate protection.

Annika Stechemesser investigated how heat affects our day-to-day behavior, analyzing data i.a. from turnstiles and billions of tweets. Her findings, published e.g. in the Lancet Planetary Health, point to physical and mental health risks, threats to societal cohesion and limits to adaption.
