My list of discarded (but still beloved) hyperfixations is long and varied. Currently mostly into cats, cemeteries, and Star Trek.

12.11.2025 21:42 β π 18142 π 5542 π¬ 456 π 430Completely off topic, but in the Sister Boniface series, they have a Doctor Who parody episode, but the fake show in that episode is so much more like Inspector SpaceTime, itβs actually kind of weird. Itβs not on purpose, but it does suggest that all parodies of Doctor Who are Inspector SpaceTime.
13.11.2025 00:12 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Contrarianism is just taking the opposite side of whatever is under discussion just to be an asshole. This phenomenon is choosing to fully internalize an alt and usually crackpot explanation because you donβt want to believe the accepted one - it goes much deeper than just being reflexively a dick.

10.11.2025 21:57 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think we have to do the tea party thing where we insist we are going to take back our party because if you look at it, historically this isnβt the Democratic Party. This is not the party of FDR - it isnβt even the party of LBJ! We need to take them over from the inside.
10.11.2025 21:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Durbinβs whole career has been believing his GOP colleagues are acting in good faith, which is why he was never able to get the dreamer act passed which is something he actually shouldβve been able to do. He was working on that during the Obama administration. He should have been able to get that.
10.11.2025 20:33 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβm not sure what Iβm failing to communicate here. If you look and see how the tea party worked that is what Iβm talking about. Has nothing to do with the former structure of the GOP, which was completely hijacked or the current structure of the Democratic party, which Iβm suggesting we hijack.
10.11.2025 15:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If nothing changes and no effort is made to rally people who donβt usually vote, and all of our energy is expended on trying to change the minds of Nazis - sure. Doing the exact same thing we always do will result in the exact same result. That is not what the other side did.

10.11.2025 04:09 β π 3386 π 757 π¬ 38 π 11The other side completely gutted their party and replaced them with the kinds of candidates they wanted and look at what they have now? οΏΌWe can remake the party in the same way and then rename it if we want to, but the structure and tools exist, and we should use them
10.11.2025 14:33 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Following up on this. This remains a βcave is minutes or hours awayβ situation. If you want to impact how this plays out you need to contact senators literally now. 09.11.2025 15:43 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yesterday we had a meeting on the block. We had to. The state of the government and its affect on the community was the topic. We discussed the best way to proceed in all of the uncertainty. The other day there was no SNAP in November. Then it was half. Then it was none again. Then it was half again. Then 65%. Then 35% in the exact same day. So you can see what I mean when I say, uncertainty. The hokey pokey of this administration had us wondering should we keep doing dinner everyday and lean in, or stop because people are getting a percentage (I think? ) of their SNAP benefits? Now, preparing meals outside on a street corner in the summer is hard. But, outdoors in a Chicago fall/ winter is brutal. We've done pop ups before in the winter but never everyday... BUT, knowing how difficult it could be and will be, every single volunteer who cooks and shows up to serve everyday STILL voted that we can't stop. The kids need us. Even with a fraction of the benefits. Even with the indecisiveness of the government. Even in the cold, wet, ick, that is sure to come. Even without funding. They all voted to still show up. And then people in the neighborhood started dropping whatever they had in their pockets on the table. Because we're all in this together. πΆ"I wish I could give you this feeling. I wish I could give you this feeling."πΆ
Shutting it down for the night with this post from a comrade in Chicago:
πΆ"I wish I could give you this feeling. I wish I could give you this feeling."πΆ
This is such great news. I had a lot of faith in Danny Strong. Iβve never been to New York before, but I got the book club together and weβre going in March. Iβm so excited!

Am I the only person who thinks this is great? Like, βyes, we should have a variety of candidates in primaries. Letβs stop being afraid of what Fox News is going to say, they are going to say it anyway.β
