As 2024 turns into 2025, I will resolve to better apply Carter’s lessons in my life and work. Rest well Mr Carter.

Obviously, I didn’t know anything about Jimmy Carter or his presidency when I was 5. Like everyone else in the world, over the past 44 years, I learned a lot about public service, decency, and humanity from Carter.

One of my enduring memories of my childhood is the 1980 US Presidential Election. Being 5 in 1980, I did not understand what was happening, but I do remember being heartbroken watching replays of Jimmy Carter’s concession. It just felt like a big deal to a child. As it turned out, it really was.

I had to leave the house today. It wasn’t because I forgot anything. It was an appointment made for me months ago & was still there today.

It wasn’t terribly crazy out there.

For nearly a decade my kid has required one album for bed time. Since he didn’t have his own device to stream it (and we didn’t buy a CD player and disk), this album has completely destroyed my “year in music” algorithm for years. Nevertheless, here are my top 4 albums of the year.

I was slow to do it. I wasn’t indecisive; rather, I had hoped for it to get better. It didn’t. My Twitter account is deactivated and deleted from my devices.

I withdraw this comment. In fact, the hardest thing about running in the winter is all of the ice in my beard.

I can actually hear a studio producer’s response: “instead of murder, why doesn’t she sue and take a bunch of money?” Then they can call it the Gates/Bezos story.

The hardest thing about running in the winter is putting on all of the layers. I’m okay running — it’s the extra work that needs motivation.

It is impossible to overstate just how much Bruce Springsteen’s music has affected me. I don’t know all the lyrics, I don’t sing along (well sometimes I do), and I don’t listen every day. Nevertheless, I feel every note, beat, and soul. That’s what Bruce has given me — the ability to feel music.
