Americans voted in Trump to lower the cost of living and return the United States to the political and economic status quo as it was before the pandemic. But rather than meet the public where it was, Trump and his cadre of ideologues in the White House took their victory to mean that they could pursue their most radical dreams and try to make good on their extreme preoccupations.

NB: this is what they always do. Remember when W didn’t even win and came in like he had a national mandate? D’s come in and refuse to seize the day—even when progressive policies are what the ppl want.

The entire pundit class has convinced people for so long that their “analysis” was somehow necessary and valuable when in reality it was just a con game to manufacture consent for bias-confirming “strategies” that only benefited the capitalist class and guaranteed pundits career security.

Friends, let’s not drop billionaire leeches from the “affordability” discussion. Yes, Spanburger, Sherril & Mamdani won on shrinking pocketbooks AND by contrasting that with oligarch shorties. It’s not fair and Americans don’t like that.

It’s not a win for “centrists,” as defined by the moneyed.

But it’s not just Trump. Its Project 2025, oligarchs and isolation. The meanness and fear has metastasized. We need to focus on kindness and joy.
