The biggest plus about his emergence as a lineout threat on opposition ball is that they're going to have spend time working out how to counteract his threat which for many will also mean less time working on how to threaten our ball.

We can hope but not really expect. The Aussies tried but they were done by 50 mins. The boks mostly rested the team that will face us. They're going to be at 100% and we're still working out how we want to play. Looking forward to it though.

I can see an argument for a penalty but yellow seems a stretch.

Hearing the Welsh anthem belted out in Cardiff is one of the great rugby experiences.

He grew up in Belgium learning his rugby there. Didn't play second row until he went to Loughborough where they converted him.

There was head contact but it was secondary to the chest contact. The sheer stupidity of a no arms tackle to the chest the week after a teammate got red for it almost demands a red card but I think that it should have been yellow.

Still think that it should have been yellow as the degree of danger wasn't high and the impact area was the chest and the head very much secondary. Still a deliberate scummy tackle. Tackling illegally doesn't make you a hard man.

That kind of makes my point about replacements! Crowley wasn't trusted because he was inexperienced. Ross would have been a better bench choice that day having closed out most of the 6 nations games including France. Might have been different if Jack had played more and earlier for Munster.

Some might argue that we were blessed that he continued as long as he did. Neither of the putative replacements are within a million miles of where he was when he retired. Maybe Ross would have a few more caps and be a little more respected but the only serious alternative was Voldermort.

It feels like there's probably a good reason for that.

Farrell selects his bench for impact first and cover 2nd. I can see Aki as an impact sub all the way to the next world cup.

It would be interesting to see how well Hansen can slot into the playmaking role from 15.

We'll see how it goes. You really want to bring him into the game as much as possible - a bit like Malzieu he's a big strong carrier who's awkward to tackle. We're not really trying to do that in attack at the moment though.

You want 3 good playmakers in your backline and with none of our centres in the kiwi 2nd 5/8th mould and Keenan being head and shoulders our best 15 wing is the only option really. Stockdale did a pretty good job against Japan and he's got a lovely long flat left to right pass but Hansen's better.

Do you think that Lowe's lack of form is a little exaggerated? He's still making an impact when he gets the ball, I'd like to see him get around the corner a bit more but that's probably a product of the plays called rather than anything else.

I'm loving TOB but we're in dire need of another playmaker that can step in at first receiver so I expect that when fit Hansen still has the edge.

It's astonishing just how much better the game is now and how much higher refereeing standards are compared to 30 years ago. Night and day better.

Nope. Any Joe team plays well against us because he knows us so well and this South African team look a cut above us. I do think that we'll improve though.

A good game to miss. We were dominant in scrums but lineout was a shambles until Gus came on. Prendergast looked good simply by stepping out of the first receiver role and playing in midfield but he worked off a functional lineout. Crowley's kicking radar still off. Too many poor decisions from all.
