Remember when industrial-sized drones were EVERYWHERE in New Jersey and then they just...disappeared?

Anyone else find that eerie & weird, even for a state with a publication called Weird NJ?

Had one right outside my window-creeped me the hell out. But in this timeline it's Just Another Thing.

John reading Felicia? Oh man. I enjoy the heck out of this unexpected crossover! Can't wait to pick this up, @felicia.day ! Another feather in your creative cap-which by this point has to look very peacock-esque :)

The unions. DGA. WGA. SAG. IATSE. We need to stand up for the jobs of those in the adjacent unions. No AI to replace actors. No AI to replace crew. No AI writing in scripts. No AI to replace VFX artists. AI tools only and only tools that facilitate jobs, not replace them. Together we can do this.

I feel like every time I rewatch Band of Brothers, there's another person I realized eventually became huge. Fassbender, Simon Pegg, McAvoy, Tom Hardy...but I remember watching it as it aired and thinking "Is...is that the guy from SNL?" And to this day I still don't know how Fallon made it in.

A picture of Wonder Woman smiling brightly, waiving with a quote from Wonder Woman #25, 2006 by Gail Simone.
"Don't kill if you can wound, don't wound if you can subdue, don't subdue if you can pacify, and don't raise your hand at all until you've extended first."

Such a perfect ethos for my favorite superhero.

Bigger question: why would ANYONE draw that on the board knowing what a disaster the shark is for their town? Is there a deleted scene I don't know about showing Quint's art skills?

If it's Quint, that just makes him even more unhinged. If it's not...WOW, Amity, WOW.

Been home from school for about a month. I've written nearly 40k words on my book since my friend and I started a gentleman's agreement to keep pace with each other. Today I saw F1 in the movies. Now I'm imagining a writers version of that plot.

And that's the catch. To fully judge it would require watching the whole movie...which I don't know about you? I can wait on that lol

Can't speak to Bluey but Sesame Street is next level to the point where even my occasionally oh-too-cool teenage film students are quoting Sesame Street memes. That's brilliant writing strategy at work! Smurfs is the polar opposite from what I've seen.

31.07.2025 21:58 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Oh good, I'm not the only one that bothers. Not even a Smurfs fan, it just bothers me as a writer. Seems incredibly lazy and kinda demeaning to the audience. "We wanted to write this word, you know what we're saying, we're just using smurf to cover our 'edgy' language, anyone over Age 10." Meh.

Learning Tom Lehrer and Stephen Sondheim knew each other from childhood summer camp forces me to imagine a conversation in which they both said, β€œI’m going to be the best there ever was at the kind of songs I will write,” and they were both correct.

I just said the same thing to Drew: it's NOT. THEIR. FILM.
This isn't like a student at the Louvre and doing their own take on a master work. This is going up to the Mona Lisa and deciding, you know what? That smile isn't big enough! Also? Let's add her house that's just off the canvas!

I get that tech advances and the medium can evolve. The problem isn't wind machines or more speakers or even cleaning up the resolution. This isn't even a Special Edition issue. This ISN'T THEIR FILM.

@bitterscriptreader.bsky.social If you haven't seen it, Jason Palmer did a gorgeous print of all the Superman actors (and a few Lois Lane actresses). I have his Firefly and Star Wars OT prints here in my office. Highly recommend if you're able to find him! Want to pick up a copy for myself online!
