These are good questions to ask! But when it's phrased as "normal people can't do X bc I can't" it invariably ends up being internalized bigotry of some kind & I'm distracted from the *real* question bc it is more important to try to dismantle THAT than to help someone learn to write characters gud

What they're almost always actually asking is: "how do I write a character who does not know how to do X successfully doing that thing" and/or "how do I keep readers from doubting that my character did X"

Begging (typically new/inexperienced) writers to realize that just bc you don't know how to do something doesn't mean a "normal person" wouldn't know how to do it

Related: seeing someone else's personal library and wondering "where is their dictionary collection" before remembering most people do not, in fact, have multiple dictionaries

Imagining how much more powerful I'd be if I were even two inches taller and my voice were just a touch deeper. No wonder the powers that be didn't allow it
