When accounting for yards drawn from DPI, Defensive Holding, and Illegal Contact, Justin Jefferson has produced the most receiving yards in the league. He has also drawn the most of those types of penalties at 11. The next closest is 6 (Metcalf, Mooney, Higgins, N.Brown, M. Evans)!

There’s definitely something to this. When removing turnovers and sacks, where the Vikings thrive, they drop to the 3rd defense, 4th when adjusting for schedule. So their defensive ranking is definitely being pulled up by those high variance plays. They get torn up across the middle consistently.

I figured it would create some problems. I think the OT0 is a good solution to communicate that. One other idea I had, it would be cool to color code the stats displayed in tables to show if they’re above or below league average. As long as it doesn’t get too messy, it could provide good context.

Of course! The little changes can do a lot of good. Out of curiosity, how does it handle overtime? Does it start counting back up?

Harrison Smith is the 8th oldest defensive back since 2012 (and oldest since 2020) to take more than 100 snaps through 12 weeks. Stephon Gilmore is the 20th oldest player to take more than 100 snaps since 2012. Side note; 4 Terence Newman seasons being the top 4 is pretty funny.

How do you decide what tier to put a team in? Clustering? Or just vibes?

Is Daniel Jones trying to one up Trey Lance by playing safety in practice? And since Ed Donatell is the only coordinator that can get Jones paid, what contract would Jones receive playing safety in a Donatell system?

I did a similar thing for EPA here, looking at how their schedule performed against other opponents. Extremely impressive against the run! Allowing -.306 EPA to an expected -.062!

The Vikings rank third in opponent-adjusted EPA per play! And rank first in opponent-adjusted Defensive EPA per play, by a lot! This stat attempts to determine how they are expected to perform against their schedule versus how they actually did perform.

Vikings Pass Charts for the Vikings Titans game. Will Levis tore up the right side of the Vikings defense. Sam Darnold was effective in the 10-30 yard range, completing 6 of 9 passes.

2 refs called it on the field so I wish there was a better angle than the one I’ve seen. It looks like the helmet hits in the chin/neck area, so I can understand why it was called. He was also in the process of at least moving up, so I can at least see how a ref would interpret it as a launch.
