I’m glad that more folks are out using the natural places. We are lucky to have so much varied open space relatively close to home. Positive outcomes is that it’s led to improvements in signage, trail blaze upgrades & better mapped routes, trail maintenance, & folks feeling connected to the spaces.

From first moving to RI in 2007 until just the past few years, we’ve spent a lot of time outside exploring. Whether it was federal/state/local open space in RI/MA/CT we’d often be the only ones there regardless of time of year. Made us sad & worried that these beautiful places weren’t treasured.

The long way to get to tri-state marker in Burrillville is to start at Buck Hill and there’s a blueberry island in the pond there!

Yes, I believe that it’s in Coventry and I think it’s near a road crossing. There’s a few parking lots along the way and a series of parks and conservation areas off of the bike path. There’s Carbuncle Pond Park/Spencer Rock Waterfall off of the trestle trail/non-paved section.

Yes! I was going to follow up by saying that this is the closest crosswalk to safely walk to Stop&Shop because of the Branch Ave Bridge only having a sidewalk on one side!

As of this morning, 2/19, a month after the snow storm the crosswalk on North Main Street at the intersection of Branch/Cypress is still unshoveled. There’s a whole city task force dedicated to this unsafe street and yet this shows how little our city actually cares about pedestrians here.

On this day in 1921, Congress reluctantly accepted a sculpture memorializing women’s 19th A victory. Congress relegated the memorial to the Capitol’s crypt & painted over the feminist inscription. The statue stayed entombed in the crypt for 76 years. The inscription is still not restored. #WeTheMen

YouTube video by Rhode Island Department of State Secretary Amore on the proposed State History Center | House Committee on Finance

Curious about the proposed State History Center? Watch Secretary Amore's testimony from tonight's House Committee on Finance hearing. We believe that Rhode Island's treasures, like our copies of the Declaration of Independence, should be on display for the public to see.

The reason I found out about this is because I happen to subscribe to a newsletter from a different Ward. I don’t think many will know. I agree with your sentiment here.

This is why in my original post I meant to say that I am irrationally upset by that language. City Admin felt the need to call us all out for limited participation. Just not necessary in my opinion.

01.02.2026 15:23 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

They DO mean limited community participation and that’s my point. Why have that statement there in general? Just not necessary for this city admin to lay casual blame on residents for not participating, as you plainly say, people made rational decisions. We all know why.
