Right. This would have to be planned on and met with overwhelming groundswell of on-the-ground action. It'd have to be called out very, very directly and very, very early.

Agreed. And then follow up with: "Because only when we hold them to account and get them out of all positions of power -- from the height of politics to the banks on Wall Street to the churches in your neighborhood -- can we start to have hope of real change in America." etc etc

I feel like ego and power hunger can be negotiated with, whereas religious extremists don't live in reality. I'd rather the former, who can be motivated by self-interest (e.g., Machiavelli), rather than the latter who thinks Jesus is coming next week.

The notion abusers need to resort to conspiracies and subterfuge is more comforting than the truth that many people will readily look the other way when confronted with sexual violence if doing otherwise would even slightly inconvenience them

the biggest lesson from the emails today is that powerful people are so unafraid of consequences for crimes as bad as β€œraping children” that they will just talk about it openly in emails

the only path to a better society is one where that is no longer true

The more family lawyers I work with and the more I learn about family law, the more I really think that the future is therapy, coaching, and mediation... not throwing AI and technology-assisted litigation at a process that's fundamentally broken.

I don't think it's cowardice. I think that they are OK with what the GOP is doing. The sooner folks reconcile with this, the better.

Or even better: Dems start standing for a vision that Americans actually want and need. Look at Mamdani's win, AOC's wins, Bernie's wins.

To do anything else would interrupt the flow of money from their rich corporate donors so yeah... why bother stepping up to the plate when they're already where they want to be?

"Let's lay low and the voters will come to us next year" is a myopic strategy akin to letting the house burn down because you don't want to use up valuable extinguisher fluid.

It's never their fault. It's always the progressive/socialist wing and never their half-dead leadership.

Oh, absolutely. Same. We've allowed monied interests to become the constituents they care about... and we shouldn't HAVE to pay attention to have our needs met, but that's what we will reform.

So I’ve been very much digesting, β€œThe Miracle of a Definite Chief Aim” by @mitchhorowitz.bsky.social, and one thought which stuck with me was the idea that likely your DCA is what you’re already doing.

Like all his books, it's well-worth a read: www.amazon.com/Miracle-Defi...

Republicans demand tougher abortion restrictions to extend Obamacare funds Democrats say that’s a nonstarter, arguing there are already limits on abortion access. The dispute could torpedo a deal, leading to higher health insurance premiums for millions.

NEWS: Senate Republicans are threatening to block the extension of Affordable Care Act subsidiesβ€”unless Democrats agree to tougher abortion restrictions.

spoke with the executive director of my local food bank today and got this really incredible line: "if you donate 1 can of green beans, we can give away 1 can of green beans. but if you donate a dollar, we can give away 6 cans of green beans"

Hey @support.bsky.team What is going on with Sarah Kendzior? Why was she suspended with no explanation? Are you doing this to lesser-known people that we’re never going to find out about?

Democratic elected officials & pundits LOVE to tell voters to put "X, Y, Z" behind them and "move on." This means that they never, ever, ever address X, Y, Z. This is a significant reason the country is where it is. For ex, Obama came in saying "we're not looking back" and man was that wrong.

If they won't do town halls, then get a group together, call their office daily and show up once a week...let his staff know whatcha y'all are thinking. I am so glad my Congressman is so accessible and his office are so helpful. #TheyWorkForUs

Every battle right now, large or small, is an existential battle.

We need leadership that recognizes that and fights accordingly.

What we have now ain't it.

Insurance is the WORST mechanism for delivering standard healthcare, and I think the math is pretty solid on this by now? Like, at this point it's just insanity to keep advocating for insurance as a healthcare solution. It doesn't work. It'll always end up back here. We need Universal Healthcare.

I'm aghast at the thought that in America we think it's normal to have to BEG our elected representatives to please legislate for our best interests based on data, best practices, and common sense.

That it's OUR fault b/c we didn't whine enough at non-existent town halls for them to do their job.

The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon
