Someone close to me used to say 'pussy-dom-nime' until enlightened. Never tease anyone for mispronouncing a word. It means they learned by reading.

My parents bought a three-bed semi in North Shields in 1970, for Β£4000. Six beds in North Ken for the same money? No.

Matter to energy back to matter or something, idk. Why would this be different from regular transporting?

Scotty held himself in a recursive buffer loop for decades, thus managing to span the gap from TOS to TNG. Transporter buffer is canon.

The "don't have an extra kid if you can't afford it" brigade get awfully upset when you suggest they don't stay in their Β£2m house if they can't afford it, don't they?

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as β€œthe most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

A pedant writes: the rail crossing is properly called the Forth Bridge. That's all, no qualification needed. Awesome structure.

A view of the interior of the Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham, from the uppermost tier of seats. The distant stage is set up with instruments and lit in a variety of colours. The structure of the concert hall is quite modern with many tiers and partitions in white, and a prominent white acoustic ceiling over the performance area.

A small very rectangular three storey building made of typical London yellow bricks. The ground floor is given over to The Bespoke Shutter Company, with large windows and a prominent black and green sign. Inside the windows are samples of window shutters. The first floor window above is in good condition with double mullioned sash window, but the top floor shows distinct signs of neglect and decay with peeling paint on both masonry and woodwork, uneven and possible broken sashes, and Venetian blinds behind which are clearly broken.

Pity the Bespoke Shutter Company, with this upstairs neighbour. Pic by me, today, at the bottom of Muswell Hill, London.

Screenshot of a BBC article on travel disruption due to weather. Each mention of rainfall is given in mm and then inches, but the conversions are inaccurate. 50mm is not 2.9 inches as stated, but about two inches, and 60mm is not three inches but about 2 and a quarter.

It's nearly 50 years since the UK adopted metric measurements. Why do we still have to have these dual units, and could they not at least be accurate conversions? Basic innumeracy in this BBC weather article (and yes I'm postponing travel today, grumble grumble).

Like Starmer, she seems to lack conviction or courage. Baffled why they won't even address Brexit, which looks increasingly like an open goal. Always a bad idea, really bad for the economy, and now also very unpopular. Why won't they acknowledge this and announce plans to restore relations?
