Honestly my kids are adults but we went through this in EG and the problem is we don't expose kids to a lot of (or any) professions. They see this list and it's completely unknown or unrealistic to them. We should be sending kids to see what's out there instead of this.

Just a quick thanks to the people who do this hard physical work in this crappy weather and all the time. EG is one of few towns that has full garbage pick up.

But who's doing this work? This isn't something that we're encouraging our young people to do and this is on top of their normal DPW duties. I'm not excusing this because this is clearly a safety hazard but RIDOT has the resources for RIPTA - it's literally their job.

One of the issues for EG is that we don't have the manpower and over the years this country has devalued this type of labor. As a town we've cleared roads and sidewalks but we've had equipment failures and our O/T is high. Many towns don't clear their sidewalks/stops unless it's mandated.

I know I'm a broken record but when will the media ask RIGOP about this statement? Many residents in RI and EG depend on their entitlements and yet the RIGOP and the nat'l GOP are ok with cuts to those for their wealthy friends
