Community Angels is an extraordinary organization that creates moments that foster happiness and lasting memories for children facing economic, social, or health challenges.

Mukhammad “Muk” Aziz Umurzokov and Ella Cook, we will never forget you.

Their professionalism and commitment to justice is why we are able to rest easier tonight.

The determination and diligence of the law enforcement team — together with the steadfast work of members of the media who delivered critical information to the public — is what led to an outcome that will make our community safer.

Our deepest condolences are with the victims and their loved ones, and all those impacted by these horrifying acts.

It’s important to recognize the extraordinary work of the leaders, investigators, prosecutors, and witnesses who came forward to assist with this case.

We can all breathe a sigh of relief tonight knowing that a chapter in this tragedy is now closed.

Nothing can bring back the lives of Mukhammad, Ella, or Nuno, or repair the pain and trauma endured by so many others.

What a terrible day at Brown last night, in the very building where both my sons were educated not long ago.

In the command post last night, I saw dozens of law enforcement officers led by PPD and our prosecutors working this case and making steady progress.
