A bad but universal metric of public transit reliability is the % of a line that is in its own lane.

It is easy to create exclusive lanes where there is little delay, but not at the bottlenecks where they matter most.

So this metric says nothing about speed or reliability.

This is one of the stupidest fucking things I've ever heard.

People will bend over backwards to avoid saying that drivers have any responsibility to operate safely or that we should have better infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists.

"The left" is excited about literally every technology that doesn't destroy the planet basically. High speed rail, mRNA vaccines, cancer treatments, HIV vaccines. Just not the power guzzling, crypto fascist, mass-surveilled, racial profiling, techno dystopia that AI brings to the table.

There are tons of countries in the world that are able to raise taxes to fund different social programs. Healthcare, daycare, parental leave, social housing. All common.

Free transit, on the other hand, is not common. Especially in top-tier transit cities.

That might tell us something.
