I’m not exaggerating when I say the US government is acting like an abusive ex towards Canada.

Switching between “you suck, I don’t need you” and “you would be nothing without me, don’t you dare talk to anyone else”.

So much of our current nightmare is downstream from a collapse in civics education, but unfortunately that collapse itself is downstream from the rise of Reaganism. A circular process of greed, suspicion, ignorance and gullibility.

This is a mistake Toronto will regret for decades. The Eglinton Crosstown LRT could've and should've been a fully grade separated light metro.

Doug Ford’s donors give millions. Doug Ford’s friends get millions. All while his party wins “majorities” with only 40% of the vote.

When power is handed to a minority, accountability disappears.

It is time for proportional representation in Ontario.

Two points I would suggest:
• Don’t let a single geography be able to unilaterally kill any progress with NITA (bring back the 15-vote threshold option)
• New revenues should be less regressive (sales tax increase) or gimmicky (streaming tax) and more transportation-related (Uber/Lyft, burrito taxi)

The Trump administration keeps finding new ways to signal that it is opposed to the essence of what a city is.

I read the 1,036-page bill late last night. The House watered down the reforms and almost entirely divorced revenues from anything transportation-related. It’s better than nothing but it’s also disappointing.
