I have never heard of any examples referring to sibilants (in any position in a word), only stops.

The (Old) Czech form samet was most probably the source of Yiddish samet סאַמעט, because with its initial s- (and not z-) the word cannot come from Early New High G Sammet (< MHG samît, samât etc), and definitely not from ModG Samt.

The entry «elma» (apple) from M. Stachowski’s “Kurzgefaßtes etymologisches Wörterbuch der türkischen Sprache”, containing the following sentence: Das e- im Ttü. (statt des *ā-) resultiert aus der Istanbuler Aussprache, in der man die Vokale manchmal absichtlich disharmonisierte, um sich von der anat.-dial. Aussprache zu distanzieren, so z.B. auch in osm.-tü. akçe, kardeş, katmer, kerake, yaran ~ yaren, yava ~ yave.
