At least in my state, if you have IEP with incorporated technology the school has to provide it and it is a dedicated device - my kid can’t take her personal phone or iPad to school but she has an AAC iPad in a standardized case from the district - we sign paper work to keep it over school breaks

I think a lot of this is people romanticizing their youth. Like yeah my gaming experience was better when I was 15 compared to now at 42 but that was bc I was 15 and I now have adult shit to do and can’t invest/obsess like I did then not bc the games were better!
