Like sure, you get your Measure of a Mans and your people projecting assumptions about him not being alive and such, but for the most part the crew really just, treat him like another guy. Data is ostensibly better, faster, etc. at just about any task you could find on a starship, I could easily see people taking advantage of that. Fighting over who gets to use him on what task, "I need him to fix the warp core" "no I need him to catalogue the rock samples" "no I need him to learn everything about an alien culture". But he really doesn't deal with that. He follows the orders he's given yeah, but he has the freedom to pursue his own interests and make his own choices, and not to be completely reduced to his superior functionality. He is given the freedom to exist on his own terms, and oftentimes ENCOURAGED to advocate for himself and actively resist people taking advantage of him. And I dunno, it's comforting seeing a character who is so thoroughly other being consistently welcomed and encouraged to be uniquely himself, and loved for those differences.
