Hands-down funniest guy in the sport once he got off Visma’s media training leash! HBD

Visma has quite a few good signings for next year. They’re coming out better in/out for transfers, aside from Benoot.

Is there really inspiration to improve if you know you’ll still be racing for second place most of the time?

I know this is mostly PR speak from Bernal, but it would be obviously demoralizing.

It’s time for the UCI to put their foot down on state sponsors or names outside of national teams. Simple enough to put an end to an obvious form of sportswashing.

Really lovely interview. Bas is an inspiration to anyone starting a project in the cycling world and growing it into something meaningful.

This is such a weird event. Is it scripted, like the end-of-season criteriums? What are they doing the day before that will supposedly be the basis of a documentary? Is this just one big Andorra travel commercial?

I’m fascinated, haha.

Lol, genuinely not sure what point this is trying to make other than ragebaiting. Did you actually look at any of the numbers or just ooh-green-checks?

Yes, it’s the circuit. The same thing happened in GP Montreal this year which is also a circuit… a few riders were pulling off to quit every lap. Haha.

Reflecting on euros yesterday, I think there’s a clear reason why no one can beat Tadej Pogačar.

Everyone’s got a big β€œplan,” but nobody actually wants to collaborate or help to bring him down together.

But… doesn’t that mirror many parts of society these days?

Wouldn’t call it unwatchable, but current teams and riders really don’t cooperate outside their teams anymore. It’s all about β€œthe plan,” Jumbo Visma-style.

If history is any lesson, we might not even be talking or thinking about Seixas at all in a few years.

Pogi hasn’t raced Euros since 2021… clearly, it’s not important for a successful season to do (or win) both.

I’d love to see more distinct fields between Worlds and Euros.

Yes, but he signed before Simon Yates joined the team in 2025 (and immediately won the Giro), and before Matthew Brennen stepped up to perform at the WT level.

Changes in the team talent landscape altered how well his ambitions fit with the team, not the other way round.

03.10.2025 15:56 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

He’s been pretty vocal about wanting leadership opportunities. Does he get that at Visma with Vinge, Yates and others all in the mix?

The Movistar talent pool is a lot smaller, so he’ll potentially get more chances to lead there.

03.10.2025 14:27 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Maybe, but it seems more likely that he didn’t see the kind of leadership chances he wanted at Visma moving in to next year, considering their signing strategy and talent pipeline.

Now I think he has to wear all of them at once, even if they take away aero benefit. Haha.

It suits him, but I’m not convinced he’s keeping his form through next year just yet.

It’s very odd to see Brennan getting into almost the exact same situation as Olav Kooij at Visma.

It’s just not clear how much the team wants to invest in sprinters or build strong support around them.

β€œShe who dares, wins” πŸ’• This weekend Mags showed the world what her teammates have always known: she races with her whole heart.

And if it feels like our squad hasn’t stopped screaming for joy since Saturday… well, that’s because we haven’t πŸ€£πŸ«Άβ¬‡οΈβ¬‡οΈβ¬‡οΈ

Adding that I don’t believe the β€œPogi age of dominance” hype. This could very well be his last world champs win. Remember early 2023, when everyone predicted that he was past his prime? We can’t say when that cycle will repeat.

I don’t know, I’m sure the β€œwitnessing greatness” folks (on both sides) have hotter takes. To me it’s just become boring, and I do find it hard to have strong opinions on this win.

Still many congrats to Pogi for a second year in the rainbow. 🌈

Ben has been amazing this year. I hope he carries it into next year as well.

Regarding harder courses, hard agree. So many DNFs make the race seem less interesting, too. So many riders couldn’t even bother to try to come back?

I agree. Ayuso as not-a-team-player seems a bit overhyped to me… he didn’t fit in at UAE. Hopefully things will be different with Lidl-Trek.

I wasn’t talking about a specific stereotype, but simply the idea that Remco could be stereotyping Italians here.

If it didn’t have the potential implication about stereotyping (something that’s viewed quite negatively by most people), we probably wouldn’t think about or discuss the quote at all.

27.09.2025 13:58 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I agree, grammar’s all interpretation from the writer so that’s where it goes wrong. Without the stereotype coming into play, we wouldn’t overthink it as much.
