It’s increasingly obvious to most people that he committed statutory rape, and his reaction is to be upset that his secret is coming out.

This morning at #2025ISMPMI, Xin Li tells us about discovering that the two nuclei in Sclerotinia sclerotiorum ascospores have different chromosomes! Same with Botrytis but across more nuclei.

Many techniques went into confirming this observation - recorded nuclear pairing/colliding during mitosis.

Birds have an excellent ability to learn to discriminate harmless insects from those that they mimic on the basis of subtle differences in appearance, according to a study in Nature. go.nature.com/44yj4M5 πŸ§ͺ

I hiked up πŸ‘»-creek, that confluences onto Bright Angel Cr above the ranger station. My feet were in the water all day, and many plunge pools, waterfalls and thickets had to be crossed. It was a good way to spend a hot day in the Canyon. Note to self- pack a dry bag for the poor camera. #GrandCanyon

Whether you think of them as β€˜government goats’ or β€˜watchable wildlife’, you have to admit the Grand Canyon provides unmatched opportunities to encounter wild animals. Just remember, it is illegal to feed them. Here are some photos of some critters from my recent hike into the Canyon. #grandcanyon

That looks like a big Sceloporus magister- the desert spiny lizard. They are definitely masters of their lizard fiefdoms.

Canyon Treefrogs- Hyla arenicolor -live along rocky creeks in the Grand Canyon and throughout the Southwest. They have a loud call for such a small frog, that to me sounds like a goat. They also vary a lot in color, from nearly white to dark brown.

I saw it too while at the dog park with Dogberry. It’s tail catching the sunlight at altitude, I love seeing them. The dogs were hardly impressed.

I'll never forget the incredible feeling of watching a haboob (dust storm) roll off the top and into the deep chasm of the Grand Canyon on July 21, 2021. The blast of air and barrage of lightning that finally hit us caused hundreds of sightseers to flee back towards their vehicle.

I have a couple incubators, if you are nearby to Glendale. They are gathering dust.

These are impressive snakes, and this one looks big for a juvenile. The Wikipedia page for this species has photos of them eating all these other snakes.
