I tried to explain this to a non-midwestern friend and it didn't click. I don't know if it's a cultural thing or what, but convenience rejection is something me and a lot of local friends seem to share.

I think it should end on something that's popular enough to be useful in a variety of contexts, and maybe that's limiting? At least I can imagine it needs to end on a language likely to attract developer attention. I'll take Python over JavaScript. :P

It's so good! There are little things I'd change, particularly that it's all text based, but I can imagine they're operating with constraints in development time.

I think ending on Python might not be the best move either but again, they'd probably need more developers to enhance that.

I'd like to see Commodore 2 take note of what they did with hedy.org and see if they can enhance it and provide some sprite-inspired graphical additions. I could imagine hardware that boots to a Hedy lesson as being a welcome change from the Pi-influenced SBC crowd.

Kinda disagree on this one- I've personally taught folks the basics of programming with this, and seen how it's a door opener. I think the design disarms folks long enough for them to see if programming is a real interest.

I think Hedy accomplishes the next step well, and would like to see it grow.

I've typically used the Soarer's Converter for these beasts, but I decided to give the "ctrl-M" project a try because it makes the keyboard QMK compatible, and SDL cables are more expensive than replacement controller boards at this point.

The back of an IBM Model M keyboard, where the cable plugs in. Instead of the older SDL connection, a more modern USB-B connection is present. In the background is a Fender Telecaster.

My IBM Model M SSK is easier than ever to use on a modern machine, thanks to the "ctrl-M" open source replacement controller!
