Even a quart is more expensive than that, and that's for the store brand here.

For every task left to do, shave that portion off your beard off as a progress indicator of where you are in the process. You won't have to ever answer questions about "are you almost done" again as we can all look and see "he's 8/10ths shaved, we're almost there"!

The altright pipeline is anything that gets people emotional enough to lose their ability to reason. It can be veganism, nationalism, economics, racism, almost anything. It just has to be what you can use to push people over the edge into blindly making choices and get that choice to be your cult.

Flew over it obviously.

I will live vicariously through your snow. We're getting an inch of rain here instead of snow, so that's a bummer. The business-person part of me is happy that I don't have to close my office, but the dad part of me wants to go sledding with the kids before they get too old for that.

If they actually cared about the DOJ getting convictions, I would be concerned, but since the only thing that they are about is trying to punish Democrats and issuing pardons to criminals that promise to give Trump money, it's all working exactly as intended.

The question is, who is he trying to gaslight? If it's people who are actually sensitive to minor price changes, it's going to fail, but if he's trying to convince people who never buy their own groceries? Maybe it will work, but those people probably don't care in the first place so why bother?

Look how high up the collar is and how it stays there stiffly. I think that this outfit was picked to cover something up, or because he couldn't wear a tie for some reason. I don't think this is a fashion choice, I think it's a disguise. Just a guess though, I don't have any proof of anything.

John, we totally can't tell it's sarcasm. It's so good you told us it was, otherwise we would NEVER have figured it out ourselves!

I've had a client receive one of these, not exactly like this, but a scam by mail. You're definitely right, it's got to be more expensive, but if they are doing it, they must think it works out economically. Obviously you opened it though, which is probably more than you would do for an email.

I was never even in the active duty military, and even I had a bunch of instruction about lawful orders and things like that for Air Force operations. The lawyers obviously it more, but we were tasked with actively informing other officers if we believed an order was illegal and to not follow it.

When it became obvious that the Nazi regime was doomed, a lot of the military stopped following Hitler's orders as well. They knew that they would wind up in front of a tribunal at some point, or have to live in the world after the war and made a better decision. I have faith ours will too.

Well, he also wanted to have attorneys who defend immigrants in federal court, or doing SIJ work anywhere else, declared as terrorists, so this seems about par. I'm not a traitor to the country, but I'm no lackey to this regime, come pick on someone with institutional support and see how it goes!

I would be surprised if he ordered a nuclear first strike, of any kind, that the order would be obeyed. An E3 might follow an order to go plug in a helium line for a weapon without question, but the O8 who has to give the actual firing order is a lot more likely to give it some thought.

Everyone following the law and understanding what the law is makes for a far greater society than where one man makes the law and everyone else tries to figure out what that law is and to follow, or not, depending on the winds of the day. Even rich people want laws, makes keeping their money easier

Where there is an alternative, I will use the most progressive company available, even if it costs more money because I love being a terrible businessperson. For things where there's a service I need, run by an evil monopoly, I donate an equal amount to something opposing the evil of the monopoly.

If everyone is stopped from redistricting, I think that even Newsom will probably be fine with that.

I frequently interview people suffering from dementia as part of my job. I wouldn't recommend a guardianship for him yet, as his support system keeps him safe, but if he was living alone? I would definitely question if he would be ok in that situation.

It amazes me how few people these days understand the value of strikes and supporting them. It reminds me of vaccines. We've had it relatively good for so long because of having unions, that people take it for granted. You have to work to keep management from oppressing labor, we've stopped.

There's probably enough cool LotR names left that he's not going to run out in his lifetime. Now, will it be more or less ironic when he starts naming things like "Balrog Industries" or "Sauron Imagery Solutions"?

I'm impressed, both with the pie and also that, even with all the other things that you do, you have the energy at 11:00pm on a Sunday to make a pie. If I'm not picking up one of my children from something, I'm asleep by then and happily so.

Clearly you have not spent enough time watching videos on YouTube of Alec from Technology Connections.

It's all a balancing act based on how tolerated your gender and racial identity is by the people around you, how public you are, how strongly people react to you negatively in public, etc. Some people's work can also make them a target, in general or specific to them, it's complicated.

So what winds up happening is everything gets more expensive, your insurance company is billed more, therefore they pass those costs on to you in higher premiums and co-pays. My group policy was already expected to increase by 15% for 2026, now it's going to be more like 30-35%.

14.11.2025 13:39 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Brief explainer: Hospitals are required to provide care in emergencies. When people don't get normal preventative care, they have to make more emergency visits. That costs the hospitals money and they have to recover that money from people who can pay. That's people with 'normal' insurance.

Once people who aren't on Medicaid or receiving ACA subsidies realize how much their insurance and medical care is also going to increase in price, perhaps they will notice and start caring. Unfortunately, it will be too late at that point to do much, and it's going to hurt tens of millions.

People should feel bad about having the ability to help those less fortunate than themselves and choosing not to do so because it is inconvenient or not directly benefiting them or there is some amount of personal risk involved. If you're being targeted, flee, if you could make a difference, do so.

No, we don't feel the panic the same way, but a lot of decent men understand why it's panicking other people and are trying to help. Not anywhere near enough men though, and there's a fairly large group that are the problem. I hope my cadre will eventually win out, but we're not abandoning anyone.

That's why I'm staying no matter what. I've often criticized other affluent people from around the world for fleeing from issues in their home country instead of staying around and trying to fix them. Well, I didn't think it would be the U.S. and myself at issue in the future, but I'm not leaving.
