I live in a place that hits both -40C and +40C during the year, many years. At that kind of range, and easily knowing the "freezing" breakpoint, and, like, the feeling of the weather changes at 0, and every 5 or 10 degrees C... It's natural for here.

There's so much *around* the game that probably got in its way, but the game itself was good!

I ended up getting the whole lot of it. I should pull it out again and give it a spin (even as I prep my Warzone Eternal minis... Every game is awesome!)

I'm going to go with a more obscure one that I feel is pretty underrated: the Mutant Chronicles collectable miniatures game.

I get why it ended up not really getting success, but it was easy to play, the minis weren't bad, and the force building was pretty simple for the customization it gave.

GorkaMorka introduced it, right at the tail end of 2nd, also when the aesthetic changed dramatically

Um.. could we find inspiration from the terrain from Storm of Vengeance or whatever the campaign pack was called?

Gunpla is tangentially related hobby, and I find the differences in kit structure fascinating. Also did you know there's a Gunpla minis wargame coming out this year? It might be on a board but still. Minis Gunpla

Mostly painted Black Widow company painted by Airylan. The company composition matches that in the original Black Widow source book, except I'm short a Rifleman and a Stinger. They're made up of a metal Griffin, mostly new plastics, and some old PlasTech. They're painted black with red markings.

Marduk Sedras and a Dark Angels unique plasma squad painted by Airylan. They have predominantly black armour. The squad is highlighted with greens though to evoke the modern 40k scheme.

Dark Angels land speeder Javelin for Horus Heresy painted by Airylan. As the RavenWing, it's highlighted with greys to keep the black tones. It's also got white and red detailing.

A D&D mini painted by Airylan for her fiancée. It's a bird person, based on a raven's colourings. So lots of black, but bluer tinged than you would expect. She's wearing blackened metallic full plate armour and a skirt which has a black to white gradient for shadows to highlight.

I don't do *much* black but I do do *some*. Have a mostly done Black Widow company for BattleTech plus Marduk Sedras and some other Horus Heresy Dark Angels, and finally a D&D mini painted for my fiancée.

2:1 ratio is the first overtone in the overtone series, and since natural sounds also tend to create the first undertone at half the frequency, what you get from the same instrument ("properly" tuned) playing an octave is pure reinforcement of the same overtone series.

(Reality isn't so simple)

It's very good that that hasn't been there in years at this point. Two whole editions without it.

Not only did I once use Gentoo, I did also compile from scratch by hand for a while.

There's a reason I don't anymore...

But now I have to reconsider using Linux and wonder how I want to install it...

A tactical squad of Blood Angels monopose Marines painted by Airylan. They're the standard configuration with a flamer and missile launcher, with sergeant with chain sword. They're inspired by the photos of these sculpts in the 1997ish era marketing materials.

Nearly done with this squad of 2nd edition monopose Blood Angels. They might not be the best, but they look pretty close to how I wanted them to in 1997 now! This represents hours of work and precision.

I recently decided I wanted to revitalize my old Marine models, to make 2nd edition armies.

A D&D mini Airylan painted for her fiancée. She's a bird person with navy blue feathers, wearing full plate armour, wielding a heavy mace and shield. Over the plate is a white tunic and skirt. I particularly liked painting the armour silver then using transparent Grey's and blacks to get it to a dark steel look, and I got the black to white gradient on the fabric looking good. There's also some teal piping and golden details, and the base is painted as muddy sandstone. Mini was sculpted with HeroForge and printed using their service.

A squad of six Dark Elves scouts painted by Airylan. They are painted with white tunics and dark purple cloaks. They each have pastel hair, either green, purple, or pink. I'm not quite sure what era these are, I got them second hand. I believe these were the models still in use in 7th edition. They're metal, except where I did some repairs using plastic bits.

Work in progress on a Tactical Squad of Blood Angels, painted by Airylan. I got these minis in the 2e 40k starter box, when I found Warhammer in 1996 or 1997. I'd already been painting D&D minis for years at that point. I'd originally done a different paint scheme on these, but recently decided to strip the paint and give a go at getting them to what I always wanted them to look like. The main red is Vallejo Vermillion, shaded with Blood Angels Red contrast, and Khorne Red mixed with Incubi Darkness. Highlighted with Wild Rider Red, Fire Dragon Bright, and I believe Yriel Yellow, but I don't have the paints to hand. The black is UltrAcryl carbon black highlighted with a Vallejo grey. Yellow is Imperial Fist yellow with one layer of highlights.

I got a few things done I liked a lot. A D&D mini for my fiancée, some Dark Elves scouts. And my current WIP of 40k 2e monopose Marines in an old school style Blood Angels paint job.

I'm partial to the "just a guy" designs like the Centurion or the Black Knight, but honestly my favourite 'mech is the Locust. To me it exemplifies the range of designs, both aesthetically and mechanically.

I'm just a fan of the games, if you want to know more about them you'd probably be better served asking anyone who worked on them...

As I pointed out as well, "there's no good music anymore, everything is bland and sounds the same" is a complaint that has been made literally as long as we have been making music. We have this complaint in Ancient Greek!

AI as a field of technical research has been the umbrella term for all of that for decades. And of course the academic research is in part to understand intelligence.
