I think it’s labours push for the Māori seats. This paired with how hard Willy Jackson has been coming for TPM. I don’t think it’s a coincidence Willy is leading the charge and is the one in charge of the campaign for the Māori seats. Shanan has also been involved in the fight for Māori seats.

I’m not sure what NZGAs position was on the matter, but according to the articles he ultimately has the last decision. He said he had taken into account many viewpoints before making his choice. I personally think the right choice is the one supported by iwi and Hutt council.
