An alphavirus vaccine development utilizing RNA replication-defective strategy Facing the threat of emerging and re-emerging alphaviruses, this study develops a safer vaccine platform. By engineering replication-defective viruses lacking the essential nsP4 gene, Zhang and colleagues demonstrate robust protection in mice without replication risk, offering a promising strategy for alphavirus vaccines development.
