16.02.2026 23:00 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The issue is less the commissioner and more that the 100% return to office mandate along with early retirement/resignation program has left staffing over all down 20%, with no ability to hire for those positions.
16.02.2026 02:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Just know at least one person really appreciates it!
14.02.2026 16:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is incorrect, Bill is a career bureaucrat who has been working at the BLS for over 40 years, when there is no appointed BLS commissioner the Deputy Commissioner is asked to fill in as acting Commissioner. Bill as deputy commissioner first filled in as acting in 2017.
11.02.2026 18:48 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0$83,730 is the median household income, while $63,360 is the median individual income.
21.01.2026 23:22 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Correct, and therefore currently there are no political appointees at the BLS, we are all career civil servants.
25.11.2025 23:56 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Currently there are no political appointees at the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
25.11.2025 17:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0The https certificate is specific to www.BLS.gov for whatever reason, if you add the www, it should be fine.
23.11.2025 14:18 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The CPI weighting timeline wonβt be impacted, other than the general impact the shutdown is having.
08.11.2025 18:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0There hasnβt been any data collected in October, so while data may still be posted for September, for as long as the shutdown there simply wonβt be data.
However, once data collection resumes, we will be able to infer the changes by looking at total levels.
Iβm sorry you think that Iβm a sycophant. All I can say is we are trying to do the best we can with the resources we have.
09.09.2025 21:57 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβm always saddened when a former federal worker are willing to assume the worst of the bureaucrats trying their best to do their jobs. Currently there are no political appointees at the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
09.09.2025 21:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It depends on what you mean by βuseβ the reports, in terms of web views there are tens of thousands per report, but the data itself also sees a large number of other uses. So it is hard to put an exact number on the number of users. But you could always reach out to BLS and ask if they have an idea.
25.06.2025 01:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0BLS is still working hard to accurately report those figures. But BLS is stretched thin right now and you can expect variance to increase as sample sizes decrease and less resources for data validation. And if you use non-PFEI data, contact your representatives now before theyβre cut.
16.06.2025 18:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah, I followed up with the total employment graph, but he unfortunately followed up with a death threat and blocked me.
18.05.2025 01:52 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I really am sorry that you were personally affected adversely. I can tell that this is a sore point for you, and I wonβt say that things are perfect or even good for everyone.
But the fact remains, the average American was better off in 2024 than they were in 2019. Iβm sorry you werenβt included.
Oh, so now youβre trying to gaslight me? Nice try, Iβll just pretend 20 million jobs were vacant even though unemployment was at near 15%. Nope, Donald Trump caused unemployment to sky rocket and lost Americans 20 million jobs.
fred.stlouisfed.org/graph/fredgr...
Who did that? According to your own logic he gained 21 million jobs for Americans, making Biden the single biggest job creator in history.
18.05.2025 01:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβm merely giving you the facts, no one is gaslighting you. I do this for a living, I can keep this going forever.
18.05.2025 01:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If you donβt take that period into consideration then you have to agree that Donald Trumpβs presidency caused 20 million people to lose their jobs. Which means that Biden created 21 million jobs for Americans, pretty impressive.
18.05.2025 01:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβm sorry you feel the need to be so hateful, unfortunately this is why people seem to not want to interact with you.
If you truly believe things are looking better now then I am happy for you, and I wish you the best.
That was the economy recovering all of the low wage jobs that were lost due to COVID layoffs.
It is best to ignore the spike and instead track real wages from the end of 2019 to the start of 2022, which you can see real wages were still higher.
fred.stlouisfed.org/graph/fredgr...
You arenβt reading that graph correctly, if thatβs what you see.
18.05.2025 01:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 4 π 0There are no teams at BLS, we are apolitical. And as long as we have resources we will continue to produce data. The fact remains by the end of Bidenβs administration Americans were doing as well if not better than they were in 2019, despite Americanβs more negative outlook on the economic future.
17.05.2025 17:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0U-6 includes discouraged workers, which again is relatively low, for now.
08.05.2025 04:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The work force participation rate for 25-54 (prime age for employment) is at 83%, other than a brief period in the late 90βs that is a historically high level.
