It occurred to me this morning that Trump is like Mrs. Olsen from Little House on the Prairie. Both look down contemptuously on the people they make profits from and constantly look for ways to cheat them. Though sometimes a small bit of humanity leaks through it’s gone by the next episode.

I had to memorize a lot of Luther’s Small Catechism. Looking at this picture, the opening phrase “You shall fear and love God so that…” came immediately to mind. You shall FEAR and LOVE, in that order.

I once approached an artist and asked for a commission of me carefully stuffing a billiard ball into an owl I know and saying “Oh hi there, we were just studying the sphere packing problem. Care to join us?”

The idea got rejected in favor of some “omg look he so sexy” pinup. What a tragedy!

Welcome to Auggie. Adding the Caucasian Badger to this years National Badger piece. That makes 9 different types of badgers. Also, adding the Stink Badger back to my crew, even though science now says Stink Badgers are "false" badgers, and closer related to skunks. There are two types of stink badgers, 6 types of ferret badgers, and 3 types of hog badgers.

A compass barrel cactus that had been there since I started working fell down over the weekend; we had at least an inch of rain. I lost another compass barrel in my front yard for the same reason a few years ago.

Alternative color Hauke grading tests and sitting on eggs.

CDC applies “individual-based decision-making” for vaccinations. Sounds a lot like our “informed advising” experiment where students were informed about prerequisite classes but could choose to ignore them and sign up for whatever they wanted. (Spoiler: it didn’t work very well.)

The best time I had at a con was when a friend of mine brought several drums, a tambourine or two, coffee cans and a cowbell and a group of seven of us, some friends and some strangers, just played percussion together for an hour or two. I guess that’s what kids call vibing nowadays.

If I made the Linear Algebra test too easy, then I made the Differential Equations test too hard. Yikes. Tough slog over the weekend going through two classes' tests and seeing all kinds of crazy things. Do your homework! It helps.
