Werner Witzmann in 9K+HM W.Nr.110571 of 5./KG 51. Shaver and Fraser had just formed up at 7,000' after attacking a train when they spotted the Me262s 4,000' below them. Shaver and Fraser rolled in and attacked. Shaver fired from 100 yards and missed, before trying again at 50 yards, where he scored hits and the Me262 exploded. Fraser got to within 100 yards of the second Me262 and scored hits, firing again at 50 yards as he overshot the 262 and he pulled up. Looking back, he saw the Me262 crash and burn.

For #TyphoonTuesday, here is F/L Lyall Shaver, 439 Squadron RCAF, showing off the chunk of the first Me262 shot down by a Typhoon (on 14 Feb 1945) that lodged in the wing of MN144 to S/L James Beatty and F/O Hugh Fraser, who shot down a 2nd Me262 that morning.

31st October, 1944: the Aarhus raid. Following an urgent request from the Danish resistance, 24 Mosquitoes of the RAF’s 140 Wing bombed university buildings housing the Gestapo headquarters for the Jutland area. This was to prove the most successful in a series of similar attacks.
