I found a dead mouse
This dreary morning
Crumpled little mouse
His eyes lifeless

I prepared a tiny funeral
Fit for a mouse

A cardboard sarcophagus
Full of leaves and seeds
Pharaonic gifts

Tinny rodentia hymns
In dreary mourning
Saw him to his rest

I wept
