I do economics at the FTC to support my cats and carpentry habit. Views may or may not be my own, but none are attributable to my employer.

31.12.2025 19:53 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0For context: Class 1 & 2 ebikes are limited to 20mph and generally aren't what people are thinking of when they're complaining about giant ebikes. The problem is that the difference between a class 2&3 is generally just a software speed limiter that is usually ridiculously easy to switch off.

06.05.2025 18:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hey #EconSky, I'm looking to crowdsource examples for a paper. Any stories of disintermediation from a gig platform (Fiverr, Taskrabbit etc.) that you've regretted and where you would have been able to get a refund if you'd gone through the platform but could not because of transacting directly?

I'm freeloading off my coauthor's excellent summary, but TLDR: privacy regulation can have unintended distributional effects for viewers of platforms using a freemium model.
I had to buy ski goggles to bike to work because my eyes were getting cold. IN DC!!!
