I was thinking the same thing. Jimmy is doing a week of shows in Brooklyn next week. Why not do a week in Portland next? Bring more attention to how insane Trump's order is.

IDK if they actually believe they have the power to dictate what ABC/Disney produces and airs or were testing the waters. But asking for a network wide independent ombudsman was a clear indication they wanted a foothold and seat at the table to decide, regardless of ownership, what we all see.

IDK how common it is, but I also have two ABC affiliates. One is Nexstar owned, which also owns the NBC affiliate, and the other is owned by the group Nexstar hopes to merge with (but is airing Kimmel). 🙄 This has all made me aware of how messed up affiliate ownership is and how it affects us.

You make an interesting point. No one was discussing a show starring an Oscar winning actress, now they are. This could be free publicity, leading to more people watching. Also, I recall many times networks delayed airing an ep of a show after a horrific event. This doesn't feel egregious to me.

Because ABC stated Kimmel was being taken off the air "indefinitely" and Trump is saying the show was canceled, now when ABC announces cancelation, it looks like ABC/Disney is no longer running their own network. I mean, they aren't, but they can't even fake this was totally their call.

True story: My friends daughter attends a Christian high school. Many of the staff and parents are MAGA. The daughter recently told me that the school gets it's electricity from solar panels. It saves the school money. 😆
