Bad Bunny doesn't have to be your favorite artist to recognize what a tremendous production that was. The energy, the imagery, the storytelling, the set design, the culture, the way it was all orchestrated and presented live despite so many gloriously moving parts -- was nothing short of brilliant.

I know I usually hate on Disney's live action remakes, but I have to give the studio credit. One Battle After Another turned out to be the gritty, in-your-face remake of Finding Nemo I didn't know I needed.

I didn't necessarily know what to expect going in, but despite a certain four color adventure quality to the show, there's a surprising amount of thoughtfulness and maturity to the show that I've quite enjoyed. Despite some cheesy elements, it's easy to see why the series still resonates with people

I finished s1 of Doctor Who and really liked it! Obviously certain parts of the show are of their time. But the Doctor himself is such a character! And I really like how his dynamic with the different members of his traveling party changes over the course of the show (especially with Barbara).

Can We Stop Opening Bad New York Restaurants in Dallas? - D Magazine High-end restaurant chains keep coming to Dallas and touting glowing reputations. But maybe the grass isn't greener on the coasts.

Great piece from @aemccarthy.bsky.social on the rash of New York City restaurants coming to Dallas, and how these Manhattan transfers may not seem like all they're cracked up to be once they've set up shop in the Lone Star State.

That's the kind of incredible work Catherine O'Hara did, in roles big and small, with characters broad or lived in, for movies bold and brash or softer and more real. We were so lucky to get to see her give those kinds of performances for as long as we did. May her memory be a blessing.

Then the moment comes, for their nearly-missed reunion on stage, for the big song that defined their careers, for the "Kiss at the End of the Rainbow" that hasn't happened for 30 years. And the expression on O'Hara's face after it happens tells you everything you need to know about what it means.

O'Hara does such unshowy but impossible work in the film. She holds the line in goofy moments and sells a few good lines of her own. She treats Levy's brain-fried troubador like a real person. She conveys the long-simmering affections and resentments between them with just a look and a couple words.

Mickey is the most down to earth character in the film, and yet she's paired with the movie's most out there character. (Eugene Levy as Mitch, a sort of space case Bob Dylan.) The two have a tumultous past and unspoken history of deep feelings amid all the typical lunacy of a Christopher Guest film.

So if you haven't seen A Mighty Wind, it's essentially the folk music cousin of This Is Spinal Tap. Among the roster of hilarious faux-folksingers, reliving their former glory, is Catherine O'Hara as Mickey, a gentle songstress in the spirit of Joan Baez. And by god, O'Hara quietly steals the show.

I love that episode, and I think there's so much emotional richness, a great deal of it unspoken, that would lend itself to a deeper exploration when you can be inside the characters' heads.

Two things can be true: 1. It sucks to see people invoke the Holocaust while stripping away the Jewish character of its horrors, especially at a time of rising antisemitism, and 2. The Trump admin's actions ring alarm bells in the same terms as the Holocaust, and there's nothing wrong with saying so

Kanye's apology is, as always, mainly about himself. The communities he lashed out are reduced to a few lines of contrition. And he's apologized for his bigotry before, only to go right back to hate a little while later. His illness isn't an excuse for this. Ye's already shown us who he really is.

Guy has apologized before and then went right back to hate. I have relatives with bipolar disorders, so I'm sympathetic to those types of struggles, but it never turned them into bigots.

Performing with Green Day at the Super Bowl halftime show? Main eventing a professional wrestling show? Hosting Saturday Night Live? Making a video with The Simpsons?

Why is Bad Bunny living out my dreams from when I was thirteen and where did I go wrong?

My minor takeaway is...DID WE LEARN NOTHING FROM ENTERPRISE? Which member of the brain trust keeps deciding that what Star Trek needs to rope in "the youths" is to score some cool footage with a cheesy ass power ballad? I get what they were going for but geeze.

My main takeaway from the first episode of Starfleet Academy is that Holly Hunter remains a great actress and seems poised to be able to carry the series through the inevitably growing pains of a new show, much like Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, and Kate Mulgrew did before her.

Me: I haven't seen Avatar since 2009. I should keep an open mind!

James Cameron: Here's our giant drip of a protagonist delivering the world's most generic voiceover monologue while the other stock characters just announce the movie's ideas to the audience. Also the Na'vi subtitles are in Papyrus.

It got me wondering if there's a missing link between them. I know that Rick and Morty started life as a (rather profane) parody of Back to the Future. Is there any indication that Doctor Who was an influence on Robert Zemeckis or Bob Gale when they made BttF?

By chance, I watched episodes of classic Doctor Who and Rick & Morty in the same day. Somehow I didn't clock the parallels between them until now! They Both feature an eccentric (arguably reckless) grandparent taking their comparatively meek and excitable grandchild on dimension-hopping adventures.
