We were honored to recognize the newly elected and outgoing members of the Taxicab Advisory Committee. These community leaders play an important role in shaping transportation policy and ensuring the voices of working San Diegans are heard.

I often do not sleep. But more and more, I cannot sleep.

I cannot close my eyes without seeing emaciated infants, starving children, and parents holding the lifeless bodies of their babies.

It was a full house at this morning’s Grocery Transparency Town Hall. From digital coupon hurdles to the rising cost of essentials, we had an honest, hopeful conversation about how to make things better for everyone.

This weekend, 80 volunteers from ASEZ STAR joined forces with City of San Diego Park & Rec staff and community partners to clean up Central Avenue Mini Park in City Heights. Together, we removed graffiti, picked up litter, and made the park a more welcoming space for neighbors.

To every first responder: thank you. Your service makes San Diego stronger.

We also had recognized two local heroes with proclamations:

Cpt Dallas Higgins – Nearly two decades of courageous service, including life-saving leadership during the Montezuma fire.

Ofc Joshua Cummings – For deep commitment to building safety + trust along El Cajon Blvd +across neighborhoods.

Grateful to stand with our neighbors last month to honor our first responders. Thank you to the College Area Community Council and Rolando Community Council for hosting the First Responders Appreciation Day event. It was a beautiful evening of gratitude, good food, and community connection.

Tonight we lit up St. Paul’s Cathedral for the 10th year in a row—a beautiful #SDPride tradition. Grateful to Susan Jester, Bob Leyh and St. Paul’s for bringing together faith leaders and our LGBTQ+ community to show that love and solidarity always outshine hate.

✅ 3.14 tons of illegally dumped waste—GONE! Big thanks to our Environmental Services Department crews for stepping it up in Rolando Park.

Together, we’ll keep working to ensure every neighborhood gets the care and attention they deserves.

We honored local changemakers, celebrated how far we’ve come, and recommitted to the ongoing fight for equality.

This morning at City Hall, we officially kicked off Pride in San Diego by proclaiming July as Pride Month—standing alongside community leaders, organizers, and proud LGBTQ+ San Diegans.

We’ll spend the day cleaning up the neighborhood, refreshing planters, and painting storefronts like the Red Sea Ethiopian Restaurant and 777 Noodle House, plus transforming nearby utility boxes with community-centered art.
