It would be nice if those trying to change things for the better didn't exclude people by making information inaccessible.

Images that are just text take 10 seconds to add alt text with a simple copy/paste.

Doesn't matter, ableist slurs should never be used. Rather than insulting their actions you use a label used to paint those with disabilities as lesser, showing on some level you think that.

Use words that identify what these evil, bigoted, fascists are doing. Not an ableist slur.

Fixed this one as the original lacked alt text... Now everyone including blind or partially sighted folks ere welcome here.

Image posts that are just text are easy to provide alt text on, the minimum really is just copy/pasting the text into the alt text field.

It helps make it more accessible whilst also showing up in relevant searches and respecting people's muted words.

Agreed, it seems so hypocritical.
The amount of people we had to add to the moderation list we're making who otherwise posted detailed news, pro-rights, equality and inclusivity but just did not add alt text was disappointing.

For some it will only be a genocide when it potentially reaches the stage of rounding up the community again.

Too many seem unwilling to call it out to stop it reaching that stage, or fail to recognise erasing history, identity and depriving them of healthcare is genocide in itself.

A lot of LGBTQIA+ creators are trying to move off Meta/Twitter. Helping them build a following here helps!

We found it really disappointing how many accounts we had to add of people who usually champion rights and fairness but seem to not add alt text to make their work accessible to all.

We've sadly reached 35 on the list in just over a week (and with only one of us working on it)

Please help by letting us know any more to add or consider sharing the list. We're also looking for volunteers to help maintain this and other lists, or with bluesky dev experience with labeller services.

Agreed! We'd love to see it.
We'd love to see posts without alt text either hidden or majorly de-prioritised from the feeds.
It would also allow feed creators to specify that alt text is a requirement to show in their feed.
Until then blocklists it is and hopefully a labeller soon!

Can you provide more detail on how to auto-hide posts with no alt text?
We've been creating a moderation list for accounts that post important political/news/health posts without alt text but if there's a built in way of hiding them until we get our labeller online we'd love to know about it!

Please remember to add alt text to all image posts, especially when it's just a image of text! It only takes a moment but means your post is accessible to all.

We have a mod list of accounts that post news/politics and don't add alt text if you want to clear up your feed.

Definitely one of the benefits of doing it, accessibility should be reason enough but if that isn't enough to persuade them then turning up in relevant search results and respecting muting are yet more reasons.

We block anyone posting images without alt text for words we've muted.

Definitely helps. We started a moderation list to mute/block anyone posting about politics/news and not including alt text.

If someone cannot be bothered to add alt text, particularly when they're just sharing screenshots of text we're not interested in seeing them.
