By all accounts, Dubya was usually the smartest person in whatever room he walked into. Genuinely, I think the biggest political blunder of the past few decades was letting people go home on the night of Jan 6 without impeachment articles drawn up and voted on right then and there. Instead, they gave Trump and Fox News the time to spin it to the public as no big deal

Thing is, the GOP got exactly the number of votes needed to end the shutdown, none of the caving members are up for reelection until '28, and the minority whip was one of the defectors

It suggests there being much broader support for the vote, they just picked the safest senators to absorb the heat

Also one of the votes to end the shutdown was Dick Durbin, who is literally the whip. It is his job to keep the caucus in line, and he joined the defectors!

My vote would be for Warren, personally
