I firmly oppose the government’s plans for compulsory digital ID cards.

This is an affront to our civil liberties, and will make the lives of minorities even more difficult and dangerous.

It is excessive state interference — and must be resisted.

The anti-immigration bigotry is racist, xenophobic bullshit in and of itself, but none of us should be surprised that the Labour government are using it to increase their authoritarian grip on everyone.

Over the last few days, we've been hearing from readers asking us to "stop giving Nigel Farage publicity" by covering news on his interventions in Hamilton, or reporting on Reform in general.

We won't be doing that. No-platforming Farage will only help Reform. Here's why 👇

I'd (of course) disagree that the SNP will be the left voice vs. Reform.

They've moved to the centre & aren't tackling crises that people desperately want sorted like housing, care, & public services.

Greens must shout from the rooftops about these & move to broaden the issues folk trust us for.

Green politics should be about materially opposing fascism, not just saying "I told you so" when Farage becomes PM. It's incumbent on Greens to take the fight directly to Reform - we know that it's both Green ideas and Green votes at the ballot box next year that can defeat the far-right.
